My fuel gauge has always read 1/4 tank low Tested the gauge by earthing out the wire on the sender and it goes to full So i guess the sender is out Just wondering if maybe the wire arm that holds the float might be bent causing the error Just asking if anyone has had similar issues Before i go by a new sender |

Float could have a hole in it. |

I would test the fuel tank sender ohms readings first. I think its around 260 ohms to 20 ohms??? Will have to go through my files to confirm. With an empty tank you should be able to raise the float with a wire or coat hanger. There is an example here. http://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/FuelSend ... ching2.pdf |

OK went to test the sender and i shone a torch in the hole Very nice clean tank i must say Lifted the float to see it half full of petrol Anyway i ordered a new float and seal And i tested the sender and it seemed to be OK ohms wise |

Whilst your checking things, check that you have 10v going to the sender and not 12v. My voltage stabiliser (found behind speedo) was faulty and sent 12v to the fuel gauge sender, causing it to read a quarter of a tank when empty. |

fitted new float and put 1/2 a tank in and the gauge reads 1/2 tank As i said the float was 1/4 full of petrol and have no idea how it got in there as i cant seem to get it out |
