Hey,
Yesterday saw the removal of the engine and rear subframe from my car, and tonight I stripped it down. Not particularly easy I must say, when some moron welded the swing arm end caps to the subframe.
Anyway, it's ready to be sandblasted and painted, but there is an issue at hand first.
Looking down on the subframe, facing the forwards direction (if in the car) the front left swing arm mounting point is out of square about 2mm relative to the opposite side.
This effectively has the rear wheel turned slightly left (possibly explaining the cars tendancy to 180 on right hand turns???).

Should I try to have this straightened up again before it is painted, or will I be able to
adjust the wheel later to compensate for this, if it really is out?

What might be the best way to confirm if there is a problem?
Thanks.

You need to take some measurements to check the alignment.

Here is a couple of prints that may help.

Thanks for that. If I don't get my hydraulic press onto it, I'll cart it into work and see what they can do for me, if anything.

I've done 90% of the work myself so far. My dad picked up a small hoist perfect for engine lifting, so that had that job sorted. I've got a mate who drops round every now n then who gives me a hand, but it isn't too long before he's called back somewhere.

I'm removing al componenst from my car before finding a garage or storage place to put it until I'm ready. I (hopefully) have a shell on the way, and it's all fun and games from there.
