I have several crownwheels marked 17/62. Is it ok to match an 18 tooth pinion with the crownwheel mark 17/62? If not why not? |

No. Because the 18T pinion is bigger diameter. The 62T crown wheel that belongs with it is slightly smaller than yours, and a different part number. Pinions are interchangeable, but crown wheels are specific to one ratio. |

If the 62T crown wheel has no identifying marks, how do you ID it as being an 18/62 crown wheel? |

Part number is stamped near the bolt holes. 22A 411. The one that goes with a 17T pinion is stamped 22G940. |

If there isn't a stamped number visible is there a physical way of identifying the crown wheel be it 22G940 or 22A411. |

I've worked it out guys. The 18/62 diameter is less than the 17/62 crown wheel. |

Very common, most of my collection of bits have the 3.44 ratios. |

Which model BMC/Leyland front wheel drive cars came out of the factory using the 18/62 diff ratios? |

Just moving on, - I noticed that the crownwheel I refitted this arvo was stamped 18/62 on two sides, so it could be obvious? |
