Well It's sort of Mini Related, and it is just Chat!!

I have bitten the bullet and applied for my National Rally Licence. I want to do a Hillclimb at the end of next month, and I thought I might as well get my full rally licence rather than just upgrade to L2 Speed, then have to get the rally licence later anyways. WOFTAM.

Anyways, I need CAMS to be efficient and get my application back by next week so I have time to do the 2 OLT's (observed Licence tests) required. There are only 2 events in between now and the Hillclimb I can do it at. Next Sunday's (August 21) Group 7 Motorkhana at Ansell Park, and then Mini Club Khanacross at Riverstone on Sep 11 (not good date that one). I then have 2 weeks to have the licence finalised so I can enter the Hill climb.

I hope it all falls into place because I reckon I'll have SOOOO much fun at all these events - especially the Hill Climb.

Wish Me Luck!!

Peter Tanner. I'm pretty certain he's organising all of the tickets/entries etc.

Yes I do, but at $95 or whatever it costs - I want to get my rally licence anyway (around $150) and it encompasses the L2S and L2NS events into one licence. No point getting the L2S and then having to shell out for the rally licence later anyway. It will save money in the long run doing it this way.

Moved yet??

To gain a full rally license what do they actually test you on ?

And, can you gain a rally license while holding 'P' Plates.

yeah, but they only charge you the difference when you upgrade. that is what my last renewal said....

check it out, you may not have to wait for the observed events to get to that hillclimb.

I think you'll find that a CAMS National Rally Licence will be closer to $200 a year ( I think it may even be over that!) because you are forced into purchsing a CAMS manual with every renewal - just like a circuit racing licence.

Sounds as though you need a lot of luck to pull that off so "Good luck" and all the best with the racing.

Bob, be aware that hillclimbs are boring as bat crap, the only savour for me was going sideways the whole way up in my V8 commodore rally car.

$177 total. Closer to $200 normally, but you get a bit of a discount on the CAMS manual when you're a licenced official. Let that be a lesson to everyone - come and help out officialling every now and then - good way to get into racing!!
