Where do you get the original copper thrust washer BTA101? |

don't know that you can get them in copper - but then all of the old diffs I've pulled apart have had fibre washers in them anyway |

There were copper ones early on. They were in the diff of my 1966 S, but mostly they are fibre now. Look at: http://www.guess-works.com/Shop/Parts/d ... htm?id=174 and any local parts supplier, too. |

I have always scrounged them out of old diffs. They will dry up one day though |

Were only in 3 synchro boxes. I have put them in my MK 2 S box. They are bronze not copper. |

Colour is too light for copper and they are hard. I'm a machinist, I know the difference. Note I am talking about the flat washers behind the side gears which are fibre on 4 synchro boxes. |

Just wondering could these washers be sintered bronze? |

cooperess wrote: Just wondering could these washers be sintered bronze? Sintered bronze is brittle and porous. Mine are not. Look like sheet bronze. Maybe are brass, but bronze is a better bearing surface. Even brass would be better than fibre. I don't like the currently sold fibre ones, they are too thick. Like the damned side cover gaskets are... grrr. Why can't people make parts correctly. ![]() |

Now I am confused "Brass" "Bronze" Sintered Bronze". Surely some here knows what material these are made of? |

I believe the fibre washers are part number BTA101 and the copper the same but with a C suffix, as per the MKO link. |
