Hi I’d like to start an ongoing thread for confused people like myself who may need simple answers. Anyone that has a simple questions goes here. Eg: are all bolts imperial in a Mk1

I am fitting a new wiring loom for my deluxe as the old one is cactus. I am using a new Mk1 S loom.

How many flasher cans should I have for my blinkers?

Ha ha, I know what you mean. In my case it's probably confusing questions and answers for simple people.

Seriously, by all means continue with this thread along the lines you mention. Be prepared though for what starts out as a simple question to become a bit more complex, and maybe even wander off the topic as others contribute.

That's the beauty of a forum like this. It doesn't matter what knowledge you have or what aspects of the Mini you know nothing about you can always ask and hopefully get some answers, or perhaps differing views is a better way of putting it as there sometimes isn't a single correct answer. I'm discovering new things all the time, and being reminded of things I once knew but had forgotten.

I agree. This way it’s slightly less embarrassing than having a full post for a dumb question

just one!

flasher cans are clever little jiggers... but I won't over complicate the answer with a whole lot of meaningless detail

I was going to answer with just a "no" but my OCD wanted me to go into details about the different types and designs and how they operate.

I like this topic !

I have one right at the moment....
My 68 Deluxe had a PBR Plastic reservoir Master cylinder for the brakes.
The Clutch master is a Tin type Lockheed.
Among the array of parts that came with the project (really a random collection if there ever was one) there were rebuild kits.
GRK1028 Brake Master, GRK3007 Clutch Master and GRK4008 Clutch Slave.

All these kits have fitted so I was about to put it all back when I thought that I had seen pictures of cars with cylinders opposite to what I had, even though the contents of the kit and the valve lined up with the brake cylinder I wondered if there was any difference, in reading I have found that people say the clutch Master should be 0.75", both mine are 0.70" all the kits fitted.......
I have also looked up the part numbers and the photos of the kits match what I have, just in case someone had meddled with them.
The Slave cylinder is 7/8".

So should I have a 0.75" Clutch Master ?
If I should why do all the kits fit ? Was the UK different to Australia ?
:?

Sorted !
Clutch should be 0.75", rebuild kit had the wrong contents in it ! Probably from fiddling not from a supplier fault.
Nice when things are moving again.

Can anybody tell me where this little bracket is located? I'm thinking somewhere near the pedal box.

yep - it's for the accelerator pedal - it stops the cable end of the pedal arm from going all the way to the floor when you don't have your foot on it.

It originally had a bit of leather over it to stop the pedal arm from going 'clink' when you take your foot off the pedal
