I've adjusted the handbrake and fitted sticky semi-slicks but now it doesn't lock the wheels. Why is it so? Is it because the handbrake lever is now too low?

I would go thru the adjustment procedure again...if you have replaced the cables, they could be off a van??

What is the adjustment procedure? I just adjusted at the handbrake lever.

Do you have good brake shoes? New?
Drums are within internal diameter size spec?
Have you adjusted the shoes so that they just allow the wheels to turn?
Then you adjust the handbrake

But First!!! Get hold of a Workshop Manual

Sticky tyres makes it harder to lock the rears.

As all said above.
However someone (Simon K?) said there are 2 different length handbrake arms, I'd go find a pair of long ones or get the welder onto yours.

dunno about different lengths, but I did lengthen mine... added 20mm or so to the end of the arms and then redrilled. Better than stock, but nowhere near as good as hydraulic

I think your real issue is "fitted sticky semi-slicks"....

IME, the best khana tyres ...for the rear... are the baldest 145s you can find ..inflated to around 50psi....

Cheers, Ian

 I seem to recall big wheel Moke arms are longer maybe?
