The subframe is still straight, as far as I can work out and I didn't have too much trouble getting it out of the car this arvo. Just undid all the bolts and levered it down with a jack underneath. The part in question lies right in the middle of the photo, is that central frame bit below the steering rack supposed to be straight? If it is, looks as though I'll need a subframe. If not, I'll strip it and paint it like the back one. Thanks. |

Be careful, you look like the subframe is bent and you probably would need another. BUT, think about it. Your car is bent too! Trying to put a straight subframe in a car thats bent will be impossible to get in without fixing the car. The bent one on the other hand will go straight back in. SO, keep that in mind. thats correct arron and the top between the towers dont look quiet right ... could be the foto use a strait subframe and use it as the rule to get the car straight makka |

OK, thanks guys. I'll look at getting another frame. As I said, this came out without trouble. Id have thought if it was stuffed too much, the tendancy for things to spring back to place in some areas would have made the job harder. That and none of the connecting body panels are bent or out of place, that all occured further up. |

Even so, a major prang can often skew the whole car, not just the banged up area. I'd be looking for a new subframe. |

If youu do decide to use another subframe i would trial fit it before any paint or panel work is done. thatt way you will know if you need to straighten the car. If you decie to use the bent one again, it'll be fine but the car's geometry will be out and you will probably be best to get some adustable suspension to correct whatever toe in/out and camber irregularities that crop up. Just remembered I know where I might be able to get a good subframe for not much. Will a rover auto subframe be any use to an aussie car for me? |

No Auto subframes are different. Not sure on the rover side, but they are different again. Cheers Aaron |

All late Rovers are rubber mounted & you would need to get or make adaptors easily got in UK but over here???? |

Yep,,,it`s rooted,,,& i`ll bet the car body is bent too,,,that`s why the frame came out easy...trying to fit a straight one back into the bent body is gonna be fun 
I`ve often had to re-fit a bent frame back into the bent car & then fitted adjustable control arms to (try to) square at least the wheels back up,,,but that is only for people with no money to do it the right way with a "car-aligner" machine have fun man
