Have it engineered then yes. Put them in yourself then no. |

Actually, it depends on which State you are in as to the requirements and level of engineer involvement. But the real issue is that there is not much holding the rear parcel shelf to the car, so it is not simply a matter of drilling a couple of holes in the right spot and using the correct size backing/reinforcement plate like it is in a lot of other cars of the period. |

My '69 or '70 Mini K had rear seat belts fitted, were they a dealer option? |

The proper lower mounting points are robust and continued through production but the top mount is simply a bolt through the parcel shelf with a large washer on the back. Later the parcel shelf was reinforced to strengthen the mount when rear belts became standard fitment. |

I can't remember how mine were mounted but it looked like it had been done professionally. The rear belts matched the front ones, buckles, material, colour etc. |

It's not welded, just held in position by the two bolts. The outers are a round plate with welded bolt that is then welded inside the rear wheel arch. |
