I scored myself a complete Morris 1100S this weekend I'm just wanting to know what the difference are in the 1275 mini engine and the 1275 1100S engine because I have a mini K to do for a mate and was wondering what changes would have to be made like the remote shifter and sub frames or will it go straight in and are there any internal engine differences |

The remote shifter housing is a different length, as are obviously the rods that go inside, apart from that I think it should fit ok. |

1100S gearbox is only 3 synchro and the diff ratio is too short for a Mini. I would put it on top of the Mini K all synchro box and change diff ratio to a 3.44. |

Thanks for that I thought the remote would be longer and a suspicion the diff ratio also due to the 12 inch wheels on the 1100 This things been sitting in my mates back garden for 10 years walked past it that many times not taken much notice went out the back to get some clubman doors on Saturday and he said if you want it take it I said no there's nothing I want off it then I noticed the S badge on the back lol ......so I popped the bonnet and wala there's a 1275 with a 1.5 inch su and a vh44 brake booster which is going in the LS not bad for free |

I have a tweaked 1100S engine on a Mini K gearbox albeit with close ratios. Diff is the standard K one (3.67?). The car goes hard. |

I also run a 3.64 under a 1300 auto block. It's fine but revvy on the freeway. Note Mini K had a 3.76 diff then at some point it changed to 3.64. This power unit was also put into the Leyland Clubman in 1971. Count the crownwheel teeth- 64T it is a 3.76, 62T it is a 3.64. Both use the same 17T pinion. |

"It's fine but revvy on the freeway" Yeah. I'm doing about 4000 rpm @ 100 km/h. Got a bit tiresome driving Melbourne to Darwin ![]() |

Got a bit tiresome driving Melbourne to Darwin ![]() According to TomTom GPS, mine is about 4400 rpm at 100KMH and 4700 at 110. Too noisy for my wife.. ![]() I only put the 3.64 in for Wakefield Pk track days 12 years ago, when motor comes out again I'll fit the 3.44. |

I prefer 3.1 gears if using on Highway. Engine revs lower, will last longer and uses less fuel Does around 3200 Rpm at 100K. So much quieter. |
