Post subject:  Woot! Engine isn't what we thought!!

Well, after messing around with my engine lately, trying to get it started in the garage on the floor, it didn't really occur to me to check the engine number, as the block I got it from told me it was an 850 8) Well, as it turns out, its a 1098 with a 12G202 head.

Got my pulsar dissy sorted, its a D4R85-15, got it all sorted and just gotta play around with timing and tuning. Seems pretty nice though and with a GT40R coil.

So now I have 2 1098 engines, one of which will eventually become a turbo build, I plan on just using the above running engine and stripping and fully rebuilding the other for the turbo.

I'm just so happy again!

ps. Thanks for the help with the dissy Doc.

Just one thing with the GT40R coil...you will need to run a resistor with it..otherwise you will have trouble..I found this out the hard way

Nothin wrong with the ol' 202 head.
I've got a couple here, one of which i'm stripping down tomorrow and finding if its any good to start getting work done on or not

:D

PS... so they stamped the block with 850 numbers? :?

NO, DO NOT use a ballast resistor with this coil on a Pulsar dizzy. Doesn't need it...

If it makes you feel any better, mine is still in too but not hooked up  For originality purposes of course! :P

If you hook up with a ballast resistor up it will work, but you will get less voltage at the plugs..
I'd piss any ballast resistor off.
BTW I'm not talking about that little radio suppression capacitor that came on the Pulsar coil lead, but you can bin that too.
