Ok, so i have finally got the motro back in the van and got it running. everything works, with only a few minor poblems to sort out. But i have hit a snag. I have bled up my clutch and all was good, but it has been progressivly getting harder... now the clutch is so heavy it isn't funny, you can push it but it is as if it is hitting something. I pulled the clutch cover off and everything looked as it should but i did replace the clutch relese bearing with another, i checked the clutch arm and it is all good. Put is back together and i have the same issue? Clues? Could it be the slave cylinder packing it in? i mean it bleeds fine and pushes the clutch arm fine too. I am lost any clues?

Cheers

Aaron

When you push the clutch down and let it off, is the clutch returning all the way? (the clutch arm, not just the pedal)

Is the slave returning OK?
If not could be the hose (if old) collapsing in and not letting fluid back..??
Then when you hit it again, it bottoms out the piston on the circlip, or the overthrow stop nutss, and the pedal goes hard.

it is returning quite normally, actually it is returning like it has a huge spring on it, if you let it go she flies back? Wierd.
The thrust washers never came out of the motor as the crank never came out. was a good engine prior to new beaing etc etc. Shouldn't be the same issue SG(i hope)

Cheers

Check to see if someone has put a larger return spring above the slave cylinder.....

The slave isn't going too far and hitting the circlip is it?

check to see if the nuts at the bottom of the plunger are not bottoming out.
if you keep pumping it you will break the ears off the housing and then you have to replace it all.
If its otherwise stiff make sure the diaghramn has not ogt rust on it as it will seize up but to be honest the clutch would have to be sitting outside and for a long toime before that happend.
you need to check how much movement you are getting and also change the pipe for a new one they are not expensive $22 give or take a bit and that illiminates that problem that you cant see.
I had one the other day that the customer had extended the arm with a socket (common practise) and he used a big socket and it was jamming up under the circlip inside the salve cyinder and i couldnt see it untill i pulled it all down, i set it up right and its beautiful now.

I'll check that tonight, i don't think thats the issue as the clutch arm moves in and out, but i hope your right as thats an easy fix.
Any other ideas?

Cheers

Aaron

I thought I had clutch problems and someone PM'd me and suggested that the clutch plate may not have lube on the splines and might be dragging on the primary gear.

Was yours a nice sliding fit? Did you lube it?

Is it all new clutch gear, or your old stuff? Is the flywheel the same too?

:?

Just a few suggestions.
Since you replaced the release bearing you probably need to re-adjust the clutch throwout stop. (The 2 big nuts on the end of the clutch housing)
If you haven't done this the pedal will feel solid once you hit the stop. The hydraulic lockup when this happens may have deranged some of the hydraulics or may have bent the end of the clutch arm.

Regards
RonR

Thanks for the replies, but it turned out that i am just a fool.... seems to be the case with me and engine(remember the 2 stroke oil saga) this time i forgot to put the engine plate locking key of when i was bulding the motor.... That would do it! It's funny as i had put the clutch and flywheel assembly together on the same day as the motor in the car and it had one put on...oh well.
What was happening was that the nut came loose and was unwinding itself, hence the clutch being way too tight! trap for young players. live and learn, but at least now i will remember next time i build one up.
thanks for the help

Cheers

Aaron
