I am all booked for this Friday for my rego check on JAM :D I have 2 known things to sort out before then.

1. Speedo is sticking

2. Rear exhaust mount needs fitting

So what can I expect when I take it there? Do they go over it with a fine tooth comb?

What are others experiences with this?

Anton, take all your recipts & any info you can about the car & try to get all the info in their ears, tell them its a full resto & everything is new etc etc. The appearance of the car will probably gauge there level of "inspectioness". All blue slip inspectors are different, some easy some hard, it's the luck of the draw. I think JAM will sail through.

Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here. Peter Dwyer, Mayor of Hay NSW.

good point Doogie! I have receipts everywhere.... I will have to round them up.

The RTA faxed me a list of all the inspectors in my suburb. I don't want to go further than that. I rang the first....no can do, but try this dodgy mob in Seven Hills..... The second said how 'bout Friday ?

It's the closest to home too!

I am not overly worried about the inspection...everything is NEW! It's the lack of 'ADR 27a' requirements that will have me on edge :P I do have the charcoal canister though....but it is empty

The honda brakes are likely to be more of a problem that the missing air pump!

You should be fine. It's pretty obvious that JAM has had a very thorough rebuild. With an immaculate paint job you are hardly going to risk it with dodgy brakes or similar.

A tidy car is always going to pass a lot easier than something that looks negelected.

I am NOT taing it to Complete Car Care......they were recommended to me and I said 'no thanks' :D

I have it booked at the place closest to my home, and they seemed pretty cool on the phone. They did also say that if you book it in somewhere, you can legally drive it there...regardless of distance.

Still, I don't want to drive it all over the city when I can get it done close to home.

I have no concerns over the brakes.......they guy said he had never done a blue slip on a Mini....so do you honestly think he will say "they aren't Mini brakes"

I think I have everything sorted now for tomorrow.

The remaining issue was the speedo sticking. I was prepared to remove the entire dash to fit a replacement, but it seemed to free up with a few manual turns of the needle. There must have been some crud in the back of it.

While I had the glass off, I painted all my needles Milano Red, same as the car. It's a sexy look, compared to the faded Leyland orange needles :P

So, do you really want him doing it? I'd want to know about what could go wrong
and what won't go wrong from somebody who knows what they are doing.

Also, congrats on the inspection date. Almost there.
Bet you'll just be watching the clock all day today.

Any mechanic can check the important safety stuff.....so I am not worried about this guy missing something important. Plus I did everything on this car......and I feel confident......not trying to hide anything dodgy.

I have a long meeting in the city today....won't be home till late, then I have to be up early and off to get a few things done before the Bluey. I played with the mixtures last night, but couldn't do a test run because JAM is so ****** noisy! Would have woken up the street!

So the run to the wheel alighment place in the morning will be the test run!

I had my personal plates remade, to swap from my daily hack to JAM. They are ready and waiting at the motor registry for me :D
