Post subject:  Rolling road

As i am about to have the Van back on the road and running i was thinking about throwing it on a rolling road and having it tuned ad the correct needles put in etc. I have heard the greg at mini classic(sydney) has a rolling road. Is it worthwhile to go down and see him, and have him set it up? Does he do a good job and will he let me watch as i would like to understand more of how they do the measurements on the rolling road etc etc. Anyone done this?

Cheers

Yes he can run it up, when I ran Ha-Ha there (for fun) he didn't have his gas analyser there... But GR has just bought a new one.. so Greg might now have it back!

I'm sure you can watch... I did! 8)

once i know it won't blow up (could happen i built it myself) i will go visit and have a chat with him. Sounds like he might have a clue :D
i Guess i could have taken the lump up to Grahams and had him tune it before i put it in... Oh well

You've been reading too many Pommy magazines, we call 'em dynos over here

Oh and by the way, also expect me to chime in if you call a chassis a frame, a bonnet a hood or a boot a trunk!

A bloke was telling me how to tune a car using a cattle grid....

You drop the back wheels of the ute (it just had to be a ute) between the bars of the cattle grid and then you use vicegrips on the front brake hoses to hold the front brakes on and then you start the car, slip it into top gear, press the accelerator and let the clutch out!
The spinning wheels on the bars of the grid will give enough load that you can tune the engine to give max power under load.

Who needs a dyno!

I figure that guy didn't like his tyres.

Probly fancied himself as a bit of a fast runner for when the car broke away.
