Post subject:  Aston + mini woody + Merc crunches mini
The following events happened in the space of 3 minutes... first, a Vantage in the rain (if it's good enough for the Aston, why not the cricket? :wink: )

Then I spotted this gorgeous woody, so I pulled over to take some pics

Just in time to see the poor old fella in a Merc reverse into the headlight. Minor dent on the bumper, no damage to the headlight. :D Lucas 1, Nazi Mobile 0. :D :D

I helped the old fella get out of the tight spot (the mini was incorrectly parked), alls well that ends well.

Nice car, with rear seats and a set of golf clubs in the back.

That merc doesn't look like its done anything to that mini - I can't even see the dint in the bumper.

The dint was minor, just deformed the plastic.

Chop, not mambas, but looked like some widen S wheels.

Is that model te only morris that has rear seats? Was there a morris estate?

Well you can imagine the situation, I pull over in the rain to get some pics of the mini, and then right in front of me the merc reverses into it whilst I'm take the photos with my mobile phone. :) I wasn't sure whether it was taking the photos, and didn't want to miss the "money shot" :wink:

Classic Minis were available in Estate/Wagon form in some markets from 1961 to sometime in the early 80's:
- Morris Mini Traveller (1961-69) - avaiable with or without wood.
- Austin Mini Countryman (1961-69) - available with or without wood.
- Mini Clubman Estate (1969 - late 70's) - no wood, but stick-on faux-wood stripes!
- Innocenti Mini T (Italy) and maybe other versions as well.

No Estates were sold in Oz officially, although they seem to be popular as private imports. There is probably 30-50 in Australia, including mine and a few on this forum.

The example shown appears to be a Morris Mini Traveller (with wood) dated somewhere in the 1962- 66 range.

BMC Australia offered a dealer-fit rear seat conversion for a van. This is quite different in many ways to the genuine estates. The giveaways are the sliding rear side windows, spare wheel sunken into the load floor and storage bins both side of the rear seats (like a Mini sedan).

IMHO a woody Estate is the best looking Mini of them all. :)
