Post subject:  chopped mini

Spotted this when driving past the big wrecking yard at Pt Wakefield, SA. Has had about 2 to 3 inches chopped out to lower the roof. No running gear, bare interior, and the windows are black tin ("for effect" the yard owner says  ). I asked him if he knew any history on it, but he didn't - I was thinking it might be one of the Mini Sprints, but closer inspection revealed it is just a homey.
He also said they had just given it a quick lick of paint - mmmm, wonder what that's covering?
Anyway - for your interest. Pics taken with phone.
By the way he wants $1000 for it (nice convenient number to come up with   ).
Peter.

someone should go and measure that.. it looks like the body has been chopped too - there is a slat missing from the grille, it has 6, where the grille should have 7, and it looks like the top one doesn't have enough room

I would't say it has been chopped round the waist, but the bumper certainly looks to be 2-3 inches higher than normal?

mmmm, very keen eyed observations there - maybe I should have had a closer look. maybe there's more to it than meets the eye - well, my eye anyway
But it will be yonks before I go that way again......unless curiosity gets the better of me.

it looks like one of those belguim mini i saw in mini experience not to long ago. the euro mini. but i must say it does look a bit odd, it that doesnt look like blacken glass it looks like someone got some black board or something and put it where the windows are cause the windscreen doesnt fit properly

TinyMorris, the oringal post said it was tin.

Probably not for a while, and it wouldn't be specifically to look at it again (it's about 2.5hrs from home) - if I do go past it wouldn't be for at least another month (we have meetings in the mid-north once per month, and when I took these pics Thurs that was on the way home from a meeting day).
If anybody else lives closer on that side of town, maybe it's easier for them. After some of these responses to my original post, whoever goes to see it should take a tape measure - it certainly is more of a chop than I first realised!
Peter.

You'd want to make sure they're open - public holiday. Long trip in 40degrees for nothing!
