I found josh's mini today dumped! just sitting out in the middle of the road :shock:

He had also dumped his sister along with it and from what i could gather he had done a runner!

It'll learn you to cut corners now won't it mr josh! :wink:

Motor was spiny spiny but there was no goey goey.....I am sure there will be more info from the source :oops:

Yea i busted one of the driveshafts in half today :( just sheared it completely trying to test their strength :roll:

Took my sister for a drive and she was complaining about the clutch being so hard and i told it was so you could do this and i went to take off with a few revs and it didn't proceed to go anywhere. I knew instantly what had happened.

This guy we passed earlier picked me up and took me home so i could get a car and tow it back. When i got back my sister said someone had stopped by (Aaron) and asked if "that was Josh's mini?" and that he was going to talk to "googie" :lol: She was a bit shocked that someone found it so quick and knew the car haha it's good to know there are people on here looking out for everyone :)

Time to get some billet shafts!

We're they starlet shafts welded to mini shafts? Your thread is too big to look through.

Reason I ask is in the not too near future I'll need shafts and I've heard about a 50/50 argument for welding shafts (cheaper) vs. billet custom shafts (stronger).

I'm leaning towards the more expensive billet shafts.

Oh PS. If you had a dodgy old, salisbury type LSD it would strill have driven home i believe, or so I've read.

No they were cut down, resplined and hardened like 99% of the other conversions.

I'm either:

a) too harsh with the stronger mounts, clutch, lsd and tires.
b) had something go wrong when they got made (dan is running shafts from the same place though with no problems so far)

Yes i'm well aware if i had a traditional lsd it would have driven home. I still would not have bought one though.

After printing the 2nd pic so I could see it (my monitor is nearly dead) I reckon the crack started from the circlip groove.
This is the 99/100 spot where even low powered Minis can break a shaft.
For ST competion shafts in UK (p/no C-BTA1267, a pair) they deleted that groove and welded a stop collar on instead.
