OK so this was a couple of weeks ago, but I just got around to loading the pics off the camera: Got some extra feed delivered for our chooks and after being dissappointed that it wasn't the moke that delivered out chooks back in Sept, this time it was!!

explain rent-a-chook? you pay them to give you some chooks and feed so you have your own eggs? |

we were talking about the Rent-a-Chock the other Day,,,didn't know they get delivered by a Moke   You can rent the Chocks, Cage and feed for a Month...if you enjoy it you can then Purch the Lot
Did you tell them about Ausmini

Yeah, when i arranged the delivery of the chooks in Sept i mentioned ausmini to the guy in my email (that's how I came to find out about him as i had spotted the moke at a distance, posted it here and someone put up the link, and 4 weeks later we had 2 chickens in the back yard!) The Moke belongs to the guy that owns the business but it wasn't him that did the delivery, think it might be the father maybe, I didn't ask, but i did ask if it would be OK to take pics and post them here and he said that would be fine. Also made a point of pointing out the rego plate too 'EGGS 4 T' It's not really chicken rental, more like a try before you buy, you pay the full cost of coop, feed, straw, chooks, keep em for up to 6 weeks or so and if you don't like it they take em back and refund minus a $100 deposit. So if you don't go ahead, you'll have had about $50 worth of eggs and the pleasure/experience of owning chickens for a few weeks I did work out that it will be 2 years before they break even!! And that's when the laying slows down! Still, it's not about the money...
P.S. Fresh eggs are great We get regular double-yolkers from one of ours as well!!

Weeval do you have some details as I can't find any information White/Yellow pages or google and I know a famliy that would like to try it also

how much? we've tossed around the idea of a couple of chooks, but youngest daughter has a morbid fear of them.... |

$360 is very reasonable - I could make a coop and go 5 minutes from home to buy a couple of chooks and some feed, but with the time and effort involved it'd come close to that the website is a crack-up (pun intended) - well worth a look the chook man wrote: Generally, as the chooks get older they give fewer but bigger eggs. The biggest egg I’ve had was a whopping 106 grams, and the chook was squarking and walking around like a Texan rancher for a while

I housed your brother's fancy antique incubator for a short while (a bit longer than necessary in the end) - I seriously considered getting some fertilised eggs and giving it a shot.... I figured my cat would at least have fun with some little yellow fluffballs to eat
