Driving down a back road the other day on my way to collect firewood I spotted the rear of a Clubbie sitting at an abandoned farm house. The house was over 600 metres off the road (it's amazing how far away you can spot a mini ) and the gates were shut so I continued on my firewood hunting. Today it got the better of me so I dropped into the farm on my way back for more wood. I didn't want to hang around too long because my youngest boy had fallen asleep in the ute so I quickly ran down the driveway for a look at the clubbie. It was an LS with the factory mags and grill, minus the driving lights, in OK condition for a kids paddock bomb. (I think that's what it has been used for.) Just as I was to leave I spotted an old roundie further down the block, then another, then a few Morris Minors. I walked to an old hay shed and found a roundie with the roof copped off sitting next to a Nugget Gold 1275LS. The poor thing had the whole front end ratted though. I didn't have a camera and it stated to rain so I left the farm and headed to the nearest ocupied farm house to find out who owned all the gear. No one was home so I gave up for the day. There may not be anything of value left there but I think that it would be beneficial to the wider mini community that I thoroughly investigate the situation and provide you all with some pics and descriptions of what I discover.

Yeah i have a mate that has done the same thing as you blueminivan, he drives trucks and has been driving past this small property a fair bit when he spots a mini with long grass growin up around it, so the other week he goes to check it out, turned out it was a bucket of rust but the young fellas that owned it had another one in a shed that they are doing up. Well ever since he told me about it i've been looking for the one in the long grass in the paddock because i drive past the same place on a regular basis ,as i'm a truck driver as well, but i''ll be buggered if i can see it. I looked again today as i was a passenger in a truck and i still haven't seen it , all i can say is the mate must have bloody good eyesight. Colin.

I headed out today for a better look but was disappointed with what I found. Or for better words, what I didn't find. First off was this 998LS. Looks to be a goer but looks can definitely be deceiving. Rust not too bad via a quick look but the interior is ratty. Still got the factory head unit and speakers though. This poor old Cherry Red 850 has seen better days. Everything has been ratted from it. Same goes for this originally Porcelain Green 850. An interesting find was this 12/77 Mini S. Could it be a Sunshine? Everything that was bolted in had gone as well as most of what was left of any good metal. The 1275LS would have been in pretty good shape when it was raped of it's running gear. Left high and dry, the body is in very good condition but the same can't be said for the interior. Sun, heat and mice have not been kind. Another roundie is spotted underneath a pile of crap. The roof it gone but it did have some 998LS mini-lights on it. A Peugeot 504, a Goliath??, a Vauxhall maybe and a Hillman Hunter. All slowly sinking back to the earth. The Goliath. Does anyone know anything about these things?? So, I'll be tracking down the owner in the hope that he may part with a few things so if anyone is seriously wanting something throw me a PM and I'll see what I can do. Cheers Damian.

Did a quick search. The Goliath was a German car made by the Borgward group in and around the 1950's They used 2-stroke transverse engines driving the front wheels. It could be a GP700 with a 2-cylinder, 2-stroke engine with direct fuel injection. The 700 cm³ engine of the GP700 had the stump pulling power of 29 hp. Or it could be the 4-cylinder engined powered Goliath 1100, which was sold from 1958 to 1961 (in the last two years as Hansa 1100). I don't know which one is on the farm. I should have looked under the bonnet.

The goliarth would be pretty rare I would expect. I've heard of 2-3 other people who have one. The Peugeot is a 403. Still an interesting adventure, it looks like they were into mini's at some stage. Ps - maybe you should tell iwannamini to google warracknabeal! KB

Although I hate seeing pics of Minis in that condition, i love the pics..!!! Its like there is a glimmer of hope that someone somewhere could use something from one of these cars to forever keep its memory alive...
