I've got a set of ring/open enders similar (smaller) to what coop's showed , got them for my 21st (14 years ago) and they have copped all manner of abuse since then . They are still normally the first spanner I grab , ok a couple of bolt sizes are a bit in between but they still hold well . I haven't had one that was on properly slip off like I have with a conventional spanner on a slightly worn/rounded bolt or nut . I'd say start off with a set as backup and you'll be surprised how much you use them . Plus when you're going on a raid in a wreckers for things you only carry one tool roll and can do most bolts , metric or imperial .

I got my cheap version of these from bunning for $20 7/16 1/2 9/16 5/8. they a briliiant! And for $20 a bargain. Mechanism is nice and solid so should last, but if not, i'll just buy more. For that kind of money and how often i use them, they are the right price

Cheers

Aaron

My only gripe is that sometimes with the ring spanners there is more freeplay slack until it grips the nut than you would get using a normal type of spanner. Normally not really an issue, but on the tight confines of a Mini can be annoying.

Other than that they are a great product and I would recommend them to anyone.

I have been using metrinch tools for many years now and they are great, but yu have to watch the sloppyness on them, tight sapces etc is not a god place, but fantastic design and great spanners and sockets to go with them.
I wouldnt swap them for anything else, other companies like snap on use Z drive etc which is just a copy of waht metrinch started years ago.
