Started working on my brake setup thi weekend, frees up a lot of space in the engine bay, does take away some dash space! Now, people will say, you can't run master cylinders in the car.. Yes you can, just need to be filled from an external area, which is easy. The other problem people have with brake modification is Modufying the mounts for the pedal box and pedals is not recommended, our interpretation of that is that so long as the mounting is the same and you can retain strength and still meet the pressure requirements, you have no problem! my setup uses the exact same mounting holes as the original pedal box therefore does not seem to bother my engineer..
Anyway here's where I'm at so far, note to anyone who wants this setup, major dash mods are needed, and a standard flat dash won't fit.
Mounting is made from 5mm angle, 32mmx5mm flat plate, and 5mm plate, it's basic, but is thicker then standard obviously.. Angle forms a cradle to house the pedal box from tilton. I'm going to add a front piece to replace the steering bracket mount and attach the whole lot to the lower dash panel in meeni, which I can't do now as my mock up car is a rover and has the cut out dash floor.
Oh and the only reason that front bit is cut is because I couldn't be stuffed drilling out the torque bolts on the old pedal box, when I fit it to meeni I won't be as rough and ready
Pedal position is similar to standard, slightly to the left but essentially the same..
Cheers
