Hi Guys,

Well to tell you the truth, havent done an awful lot to the car in the past 8 months or so.

I guess a lot of you are wondering what I have been doing...

Well, here it is: http://www.thepinkwayround.com.au

My sister-in-law got diagnosed with breast cancer a while back and the only way she pulled through it all was with the help of organisations like The Kim Walters Choices Programme.

These organisations do such a wonderful job of support and caring for the sufferers and they go largely unfunded. I have taken it on myself to support these organisations that suppoort the breast cancer sufferers (and gynocological cancers as well).

Its been in the planning since December 2009 believe it or not!!

Please visit the website guys, and if you feel moved like I did, feel free to donate online and help out these wonderful, caring people who do so much but get so little.

On other news - El Gato is not forgotten, and I look forward to getting stuck into him and getting him finally finished when I come back from the trip at the end of July. This is in conjunction with selling my house, and building a new house on the land we have just bought (like i dont have enough on my plate already!)

Thanks to you all who have contributed to this thread, and all your kind words and thoughts. The Cat will be finished, I promise!

Cheers,
Tricky

Just a little message of "good wishes" to give you a bit of encouragement Tricky.

Of course we're all waiting for the finished product too. Hope all is going well with the Pink Ride.

Cheers,

Dicko

Hey Ranger,

Thanks for the kind words but the trip was a bit of a disappointment - you can read the press release here: http://www.thepinkwayround.com.au and go to the News box and click on the top listing (Success or Failure - Its a matter of Perspective) I think it is.

Anyway, have done a fair bit to the Mini over the past few weeks which I would like to share with you all. Thanks to Hallsey for spurring me along.

Will post soon as I upload the pics. Thanks for taking an interest.

Cheers,
Tricky

Oops, sorry, got caught up with wiring the brothers show bike, a Moto Guzzi, and its an absolute nightmare. But here goes:

With most things near complete, except body work and paint, I have decided to do the bodywork and paint myself. I have no real prior experience with painting in 2-pack, only ever having done an acrylic job on my old Valiant hardtop.

Anyway, in a prelude to painting the whole car Hallsey suggested that I get some smaller stuff to practice on prior to paitning the whole car - sage advice from the Oracle himself. So, I decided to redo the interior ICE fabrication for the third time as I didnt like how I had done it previously. And here is it, and I like what I have done.

I have changed slightly what I have done in terms of overal design, as there will now be this organic looking spine going down the centre of the car, right from the rear parcel shelf to the dash, carrying this free-flowing form front to back with an organic shape.

So, the first part I redid was the rear parcel shelf piece that holds the rear 5 1/4" coax speakers.

And in position on the parcel shelf. Seat belts altered to fit the new mounts.

Bogged and sanded, then hi-filled and sanded:

Then, I redid the centre rear console which houses the 4" mid bass speakers. Originally there were 4 of them, but this time I decided to only go with two, and have 2 drink holders instead. The other two 4" mid-bass drivers will go in the door pods to complement the splits in the doors.

Firstly, I made a back for the console by taping the seat back (rear firewall and then fibrglassing it with 4 layers of matt and then pulling this off and trimming to size. Then you have to make the body of the enclosure. you start by making the shape, them cover it with fabric, and then resin it,

Then is a case of a layer of fibreglass and then bogging and sanding:

Finished and in position:

Mated to the rear parcel shelf enclosure. And because the back is a erfect mould of the seat back, its fits superbly.
Image

Then, I started on the bass board under the rear seat which houses the 2 x 8" subs, started that but its not quite finished yet.
Image

And thats been a couple of weeks work. A bit slow, but there is so much going on atm. More soon.

Cheers, Tricky

Very nice work mate. You're gonna need earmuffs to drive it though.

I helped a mate so my old Datsun in 2pak. Came up well for what it was, but I won't be going back to do it again. I've since learned how nasty the stuff is and wouldn't attempt to do it at home again. Make sure you sort out some kind of booth or hire one, other than that start practicing your wrist technique!!

It's so good to see posts in this thread again.
