thanks for the motivation but i recon it would look much better in its standard form with a set of 15'simmons and a set of race seats and matching harneses.

i spent the day a Hidden Valley to day in my Commadore cup car.
it was a sponsers and family day so the last chance to run her before the wet season kicks in.

fark she's quick and i only reved her to 6000RPM as i was running in my new engine.

any way it's nowHonda retro refit time..........YYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEHHH!

(its the twisted smiley face for me because we share a hair cut)

I'm currenlty in the same siituation - well kind of. Want to put an engine/ gearbox combo in my '76 clubby... The following thoughts have occured:

- R1 engine & gearbox with electric drive reverse, and obviously a lot of custom brackets shaft conversions etc...

- Turbocharging what i've already got - 998 with mild work done... but then what with the gearbox? a KAD one at 12,500... i dont thnk so! In fact i'm sure i could design one and get it made for cheaper than that....

- Toyota GT 4EFTE front cut... the easiest looking option at this stage due to getting everything i need!

- New BMW Cooper S engine and G/box.... This is ultimately what i would like to do.... but haven't looked that far into it - would def appreciate anyones comments on this. i.e. availability, price range, actually fitting it..... etc etc...

And thats about it for ideas at the moment!

Mate I would give that 4th option a real wide birth. The box's in those things are about as stable as the original mini.

I would push you in the direction of the motorbike motor and box. No-one in Aus has given it a nudge yet.

I was always told the motorbike conversion was an absolute no-go in Australia, but thats based on NSW rules and regulations.....

the moke with VTEC is HOT idea. I love the engine bay of the one posted, but cant believe they left the rest of the car how they did..!!!

Very interested to see what you do... I have a Moke too and have always dreamed of converting it over like the Mini I have.....

There is talk of the 3 cylinder Daihatsu engine now as well... even lighter than the others and smaller so easier to work with.

well the combo's are endless and i guess it all boil's down to what you can aford and were your aliances lie.
theres plenty of starlet retro fit's out there QLD in particular, ask Tricky he"s done afew and as he said to me "Why not do somthing different"

spent plenty of time behind integera's over the years and if you know the difference between a brake pedal and a throtlle you'd know the honda motors are great fun so i had a soft spot for them, lucky for me the orical of knowledge is as keen as me to have a crack.

it must be noted your retro fit MUST be compatable for its new perpose, my moke is a daily driver monsoon or clear blue sky's.
i also drive very agressively and intend to enter in the 08 motorkana rounds up here so i'm going the B18C 1800cc of screaming Japanise kamacazi madness and i'm going to hurt some prides on the track too.

you want to get blown away 16vminiclub, google that and see what they do in Europe

also do as much research as you can on your reto program, this site IS the most friendly responsive site ive ever visited, thanks to.....

tricky
p dunn
and all those who take the time to answere the stupid questions

Laugh Out Loud

As for pics it's easy.

Go to http://www.imageshack.us/ choose the pic you want to upload, and for the internet probably best to select change to 640x480 or 800x600.

The click upload, and wait. When it's done it'll change screens, go to the bottom and highlight the url of the "direct link to image", paste that into the post on Ausmini, highlight the url you have now posted and click on "Img" up the top. Once you've done it a few times, 'tis easy. Only thing, when using the imageshack thing, when you click 'upload another you will lose the url of the photo you just uploaded so copy that somewhere and you'll be good!
