Tricky i had a good friend of mine do the turbomanifold,,, & yeah it`s a nice bit of kit hey??? :-) :-) :-) Made from that stainless pipe stuff they make helicopter exhausts from ,,, it`s meant to cope well with resonance, harmonics & pulses & heat & all that stuff :-) & wasn`t cheap material i can tell you,,,

Give me a bell if you`re keen to gork at & play with a Twinky kit Tricky, we can sort something out for you i`m sure... i know you won`t run away with it :-)

& for all of you keeping an eye on this build,,, i`ve finally sorted the last of the mods for the small bore,,, The last thing left was to sort the timing belt & tensioner because the engine blocks are so short compared to the big bore donks ....& today i had a win with all that lot (finally) so i`m tickled pink,,, trust me it wasn`t an easy task nor was it a quick job,,, but it`s all ended up as a really simple & easy solution.

So now i will do the 2nd last "Dummy-up" build on this small bore twinky engine , just to double check everything is sweet ...& if it all looks the goods then i`ll rip it apart, clean it all (Again) & bung it back together for the (hopefully) Last time & chuck it into my roady for testing

Sooo...Now i have this small bore engine to build & another customers big bore that i`m doing along side this one,,, i figured what better way to complete the "Build Guide" than to actually Video the both of them as i go along???,,, so that`s the next step,,, i`ll be wearing my Helmet cam from my down hill mountain biking & i`ll video building both of them & add all that video footage to the build guide :-) :-) :-) Pretty strange i know but hey... Why not??? :-)

SOoooo.... if you can`t follow all the written guide with pics... """"&""" a video showing you how to do the whole thing then you best give it all to someone else to build it for you :-)

Ok?????

how`s it goin Miniboo??? let me know if you have any dramas ok? all us Twinky nuts have to stick together :-)

& for a recent up-your-date--> I`ve just finshed one small bore block & head conversion,,, pics & Vids taken as we went along,,, now i`m well into the 2nd one (doing it a different way with this one) & all i can say is that all this R&D is giving me the sh!ts !!!!!!!!!!!! Time is just running away,,, hours & hours, days & days, weeks & weeks of stuffing around sorting all the ins & outs of a small bore twinky is driving me totally nuts,,,, don`t get me wrong tho,,, small bore twinkys do work,,, we know that much & we also now know what "NOT" to do,,, & i`m sure they`ll be absolute little ripper engines, spin sweet, nice & smooth for sure,,, just that i`m way past the end of my tether with these things,,, it`s driving me batty

My builkd guide is almost complete, text is all there & just proof reading & adjusting things every day just to make things easier & clearer,,, heaps of pics sorted of all the bits & pieces, mods & jobs,,, I`ve now got a pile of videos of building both a small bore & a big bore,,, so all that will soon find it`s way onto a Video CD Build guide & i can guarantee you all that it will be the very most comprehensive build guide for a Twinky that the world has ever seen

I probably should have thrown the towel in ages ago with regards to the R&D of these dam small bore things, but i made a promise to make sure it`s all a go & i`m keeping my word,,, it`s just biting my arse

Rant over,,, now i feel better :-)

Maybe it`s like all those old paintings where it`s only after the artist is dead that they finally obtain some appreciation & some worth for what they created :-) ... i certainly hope people can understand how much work i`ve done to get these things to be an easy build.

If i charged out all my time on these things then the big bore kits would be $3000 each & the small bore ones would be $5000 :-) :-) :-)

anyways,,, Just thought i`d share the latest on the MiniMan Twinky Conversion dribble with you all.

Hey Matt,

Any completed motors run on the dyno yet? Engine dyno I mean... I would love to (as many others) see the power figures.
Ive got the dyno graph of a KAD Twin Cam 16v motor here Jensen individual throttle bodies and 330cfm injectors, looks great and with a 5peed KAD box on it is circa $45,000 drop in - everything, computer, la la la , everything.
Thats N/A not turbo and makes 170hp at the crank.

I would really like to see the 1275 Tinky conversion power figures...

Cheers,
Pete

Not yet Pristic,,, we did do a dyno run of our first N/A 1360 but not a power figure run , more of a confirm fuel & timing settings & we only ran it to 5000rpms,,, just to make it sweet to drive,,, this happened after the first muster that we took it to cause we had only just finished fittin git to the car & it was running like crap & we stuffed around learning the injection stuff so soo many months, gained a whole heap of knowlege & experience & just thought that we were pretty happy with the way it was running that we`d just check it on the dyno & we weren`t far wrong with our tune... But to run it any harder was simply a watse of time because it was jhust an old sh!tty batch fire computer that wasn`t going to stay on there anyways,,, we`re just keeping that computer here attached to a plug in loom & monted on a trolley with battery, fuel tank & solinoid etc simply to run up engines on the ground once they`re built
BUT!!!!!!!!! This turbo twinky moke should be visiting the rollers within the next few weeks :-) hope to have it all sorted before x-mas

So Matt, what kind of figures are you expecting?

Any idea?

hey Tricky,,, well with all the figures thrown around the place in England & the States with these things i can only "ass-ume" that we will end up close to the same with about 110 at the engine on the 8v big bore donks & maybe only about 80-90-ish on the small bores but that`s still way up on most roady 5 ports

But,,, i`m expecting approx 180 with the turbo 1360 roady version & well over 200 on my turbo race donk

but i`ll keep my mouth shut till we actually see the numbers,,, i`m not expecting telephone numbers tho, & it`s not rocket science, just simple physics.

When are you comming down for a look-see,,, i have a couple of dummy-ed up Twinky donks here, a small bore 8V & a big bore 16v plus i`m in the middle of 2x small bore builds & 2 x big bore builds so the time is right for you to come & gork

bell me if/when you`re anywhere near here ok?

The Turbo moke is actually in the shed getting worked on at the moment too,,, it`s the first time i`ve touched a spanner to it since the muster :-(

Matt do you have an engine dyno up there you can use? Not a fan of chassis dyno's.

Matt,

Looking forward to coming over and having a gecko!

If your assumptions stack up, that isnt bad power figures for a modest outlay. Especially the turbo version!

I will give you a tingle when I have a day spare to come over and play! And thanks for the invite.

Cheers,
Tricky

I see Matt, well get it sorted asap :-)

Listen, seriously - Offer to you is open - Graham Russell will run your engine on the dyno here (engine dyno) and wont charge you anything... spoke to him and he offered on Sunday... let me know (or PM if you want - or heck, call me, you have my number)

Obviously would run the best motor you have not the smallbore but whatever you want...

Cheers,
Peter

I best stick a minispares order in to waste some time and get some new shiny bits LOL

MiniMad & pristic,,, yeah i have both an engine dyno & a rolling toad avaliabe to me (not mine--- i wish) but I prefer to just build the donks, shove em in & run them up & see what happens,,, after that we can have a play, learn some stuff & go do some things a little different on the next one

tell Graham thanks HEAPS for the offer,,, he`s such a nice fella -) But i`ll keep slaving away on all these Twinky builds & the build guide & I`m trying to focus on finishing the Turbo moke,,, Now after it`s tuned i`ll see what we can do with my next Turbo engine with regards to some decent power because this turbo twinky moke is just a roady,,, the next turbo twinky moke is for one of my customers (Ian) & it`s just a roady too & i`m sure we will see some more gains on that one from what we`ve learnt from the first one,,, BUT THEN... I`ll be focusing on my own full race turbo twinky donk & THAT`S the one i`m keen to see some wonderful numbers from

It`s all good & well having 5000 million Hp,,, but it`s no use on the road so i`m trying to keep them quite sedate ,,, if you know what i mean?,,, If the poor customers keep comming back here to have their front wheel assys & front panels repaired from spearing into gutters & other cars because of too much wheelspin then i`d feel really bad

But my race thing,,, well,,, i`m aiming for it to act very very similar to a slot car,,, if you get my drift :-)

"Aiming For".... (hopeing) we can spin it to 10,000 rpms & push about 25 lbs of boost into it,,, so,,, you do the math ,,, it should be pretty dam healthy output,,, if it doesn`t go BANG that is :-)

anyways,,, back to building Ians twinky donk & fixing Gordos little blue moke :-)
