I'll get the body finished down there... And put it all back together up here. I have some more sand blasting and powdercoating to do now, and will start to clean up the motor while I have it here also. Get it all nice and shiney ready to go back in

Yeah the fuel tank ended up all good... I can now get over 400km's to a tank
But with all the weight in the back, I did hit a really big bump in the road in Ballina where they are doing road works and it bottomed out the diff onto the bump stops which pulled out the filler neck and splashed some fuel out

Here are some pics of some of the stuff i brought home... And all of this is brand new and has never seen the road as of yet

I'm not real sure where it sat... But it definatly sat somewhere I wouldn't have left it. Am going to pull the motor out of the subframe some time soon and send it and the hydraulic pump frames to the powder coated to get blasted and coated. Then I'll start cleaning all the hubs and bits up and start putting all new bits back together

Ahh so I pulled the front hubs off the subframe yesterday afternoon to see what I could do about tidying them up... So I give matt the mini man a call and head on over to see what I could and couldn't paint on them. I still had the cv's and rotors all on it, anyways we pulled one apart because it was jammed stuck to find that the hubs and bearing/balljoins and cv's were all put together just to get it to roll. So no grease any where to be seen (keep in mind this is all brand new gear and has never been driven on) so once apart the outer bearing was totally smushed to bits which is why it had locked up... Luckily no gouges on the new hubs but i now have to fork out for a new set of bearings and probably ball joints
Never the less, life goes on and I'll be getting some bits to the powder coated shortly for a sand blast and powder coat. Once everythin is back I'll re-assemble the front hubs the correct way and get them ready to bolt back on

So I finally took a step forward last week only to take 2 steps back... I got the turbo housing all ceramic coated and jeez it looks a treat. But it being a gt2860rs (disco potatoe) it is a little big for the 4efte. So I am now goin to take the gt2570 off my datto and put the gt2860 on that and put the 2570 onto the 4efte, migh still be a little large but it will be much more suited to the 4efte than the 2860 is. (I could have the numbers all mixed around too, might be a 2870 and a 2560?? Either way it's too big) so here is a pic of the disco potatoe and the gt2570 will get the ceramic coating also...

And did you have supply just the housing to get it done or could you supply the entire turbo?

I took the whole turbo to mike vines turbochargers here in capalaba and they pulled it apart and sent it out to get coated, and obviously put it all back together. Was $306 with a new gasket and the 5 new studs and lock nuts for the dump pipe. I think the gasket was about $45 and the studs and nuts were $10, so say $250 to get it pulled down and coated and put back together...
Looks good too :!:
