Sorry Dean, that probably doesn't make a lot of sense. The rear brace on the front subframe that holds the rear engine mount, well If I routed the 2.5" exhaust under it then I would have had clearance of a bout 2 inches from the ground which meant I probably wouldn't get rego. So I had to cut the rear subframe and then route the exhaust up over and sideway all in one go, a real pain but I got there.... Also installed my fuel pump yesterday and rest should go in tonight.

Hmmm.... if you rotated the U Clamp on the exhaust 90 degrees you would probably get an extra cm of ground clearance :!: :D

Yeah Mick, I thought about that too, but it sits only level with the crossbrance so it makes no difference  . But when I take her over the pits I will just bump all the suspension up a few cms to get through rego.

If you are driving on billiard tables all the time, then anything above the lowest point is safe....however....when you are going over speed humps etc on oblique angles etc ....weeeeeell there are all sorts of angles involved....at various distances between the wheels

So what I said before

Mick I see your point and tried the turning in every possible direction but it hits on the sides of the trans tunnel. I guess I will have to find a effing huge billiard table...

Ohhhh dear.....how about a large persueder to work some clearance into the tunnel where you need it  :D

Gotta say.....the engine conversions going on here are certainly being done to a high standard (then again, if people were butchering things it would be here for all to see...pesky little digis :!: )

Matt,

Lovely job - I'm envious.

I haven't done anything to the 'Cat' in about 2 months due to the new arrival and moving house and all (final move 1st November)

I cant wait to see it on the road - I take my hat off to you.

It would be good to get us (Barra, Brad and all the other Starlini's) all together at one time for a turnout.

Keep up the good work (at least you have gotten me fired up!!)

Regards,
Andrew

G'Day mate yeah you've been absent. Hope all is well on that front and the sleepless nights aren't too bad. As for the Mini yeah you'll be back to it soon. As for the meetup yeah. You'll be Northern NSW won't ya so Sydney is probably the best location...

Geez Mick you're a persistent bugger, mate this is a low priority. Lets get the car running and then I will think about issues like possible catching of the underbelly. I should have the fuel pump and hosing done tonight then its just the tanks to go...

Geez and here was I expecting an outcry from you two...  Anyway have started installing the fuel system. Tangle of hoses at the mo but should be sorted by the end of the weekend and then hopefully that is everything at the rear of the car done and then onto the fiddly bits at the front.

Cheers

Not as persistent or determined as you though mate (jealous)....me just trying to help....

Enjoy your weekend "fooling with fuel" and think of us poor lads wandering down to Wagga for the Muster....we won't be making anywhere near the time you will be able to when MINSTAR fires up 8)

Well Mick have fun I wished I was going. And just so you know I don't dismiss the advice you give, I had a go at turning the bracket and have got it pointing sideways so it sits a little higher now. I guess we can check it hits once I give the engine a good rev. Anyway here's a couple of pics of the fuel pump and plumbing

G'day Ministar,

Great work... You make me wish I did everything myself too... But alas I don't understand enough YET...

But one question is... If your fuel return line is only going to the right hand tank.. are you in risk of overflowing the right hand tank.. if they are not leveling fast enough... thats if you top up both tanks???

Slap me if I am being silly? I just know they used a splitter & ran to both tanks on mine...
Please explain if i am not understanding correctly..

Smiles

Dean mate a very good question. I have actually got secondary outlets of 5/16" placed at the back of both tanks with a secondary line between them to act as a secondary balance pipe. Brad had given me a heads up to this previously.
