each to their own, i've been told bog should always be put on bear metal, because it stay's on better, then primed and finaly high filled.
either way, good luck with the resto :D

you are, i thought the primer was just to keep the rust off really.. filler has the best life when applied to bare metal, then putty, block it all back, primer, paint.

the bog adheres better the a primed and scuffed surface. also bog retains water and in the long run bog+moisture+bare metal = rust.
if the metal is sealed first, this risk is eliminated.

The old "bog" - polyester filler or "blade filler" can retain moisture,
that's another reason why we all use styrene based fillers these days.

Personally I find it sticks best to a properly abraded clean metal surface,
then prime & seal the moisture out with the top coat (that's what it's for)

thats what i thought too.
so i took mine back to bare metal and put a temp layer of normal primer, found and bits that need a bit of filler, wiped off the primer with thinners, did any bog work needed then sprayed the panel with etch primer etc etc

well spending most of my time at the moment in a panel shop gives me the impression that you apply bog to a bare surface, which has been properly cleaned and not touched by your hands before the aplication

The plan is to panel beat and skim with bog, as for the roof it is going to have a clear sheet of lexan in it.. Im also going to get a metal roof made up for it to give it another type of look
