Unfortunately the mini is still at the radiator place over easter, so I won't be able to play with it. ...Might just practice welding for the next big part - Exhaust and Intake!!

Air passes through big ones and water (to cool the air) through the little ones correct?
Dose the water come out of the engine cooling system or is it on it's own cooling circuit? ie another radiator+water pump :? ?

I have the same one on my car - they use a separate radiator and water pump. I used a davies craig electric water pump with mine ;)

Yep. As Josh said, seperate cooling circuit. The engine cooling water would be way to hot to give sufficient cooling to the charge air.

Hopefully with a bit of playing with air flows and water capacity of the system it should be able to keep intake temps close to ambient whether it is sitting on a dyno, in traffic, or around a track.
Air to Air intercoolers need to have air flowing over them to cool the air significantly, where as water to air don't.

It also significantly reduces the intake piping length as opposed to a front mount air 2 air, which should keep lag to a minimum once I bolt on a bigger turbo after rego!! 8)

It will also be not visible from the outside of the car!! A big factor for this build is to hunt some commonwhore SS's around Kal.... I can't have them seeing me coming now can I?? 8)

The radiator will be a bit of a collaboration between me and the radiator shop based around an alloy civic racing radiator (at this stage). They have done all the cooling calculations and are doing the fabrication work, but I am keeping a tight reign on them, so it's done the way I want it.

I figure this way they will feel some ownership with the mini, which should help me down the line if it over heats or I need advice or good prices on something radiator related.

The mini is back home!! :D

The radiator is done and in, but still needs a new fan - The one they tried to fit is too big.
Also some mods to the top pipe, but I think it looks pretty good.

The rad guy is going to finish it at my place when he gets back from holidays.

Now I get to play - Thank god because I was getting withdrawal shakes!!

There is nothing like a nice piece of bling that just sets something off

Slight update:

Lately I've been spending some time with the wiring loom.

My engine only came with the basic engine harness, with no computer, fusebox, any of the wiring into the cabin / dash etc.

The trick about this is that I didn't get to see how the original car was wired up and thus need to wire up everything using the wiring diagram(s) and try and find what should connect up to what.
This would not be a huge issue, but as anyone who has tried to play with the wiring on these engines would know, complete wiring diagrams are hard to find, and if you can they are mostly in japanese.

Anyway, a few pics:

And after a bit of a tidy of the mini loom:

I've also bent up the clutch pipe and got the clutch working! Lots of little wins keep me going! :?
