My EA Ford was like that after the head had been off for weeks. :x
Hint... spray some Aerostart, Start Ya Bastard, or Nulon throttle body cleaner into the air intake BEFORE you mess with anything else...

today it kicked over :D :D :D
my mate serviced the injectors and that was the problem, the motor started perfect and idles smooth, we just checked the fuel pressure and it is perfect
also noticed that the lights and indicators are much brighter because the late model alternater is working its magic :D

just have to bleed the brakes and top up the gearbox oil and i can take it for a burl
just reving the motor on the spot indicates that it going to be much better 8)

man it feels good after all that effort that it actually all works :D

Took the Van for its first run :D :D :D
the ratio's are quite low so it takes off quick in 1st and even second gear will pull well although i have no compasion to a well worked 1275 id say its fast enough for the time being and is well worth the effort
the motor is super smooth on acceleration and very quiet ,it sounds just like a charade from inside but if you are outside you cant hear a thing

overall im super happy and would recomend this conversion :D :D

Hi Paul,

Looks very neat and tidy.

Congrats on a job wel done - look forward to getting the road report.

A lot more people should look at the Daihatsu 3-banger as a pain free conversion.

Good stuff,
Tricky

yes when i showed my mates at the wreckers they pointed my out the back, where they had another new daihatsu, that had just arrived
so these newer engines will become pretty common at yards soon

If only it was so easy to get a 3cylinder EFI motor over here in SA. Prices for a complete package range from 2500-3300, which is twice the price of a 4efte frontcut. Argh the frustration.

ANyhow yours looks great, its convinced me its the way to go, now just need to start looking at the damaged car auctions for a whole smashed sirion.
Chris
