Haha. No, Standard length shifter.... Just in 2nd probably when that pic was taken.
Dont think I have the arm for a leverage ratio that short!!

Thanks for the support guys.

I have been away this last week working, so not too much more progress to report, but some more BLINGY parts have arrived while I was away so the weekend is planned!! 8)

OK, I've been a bit slack lately as far as the mini goes (too much working)

I got my adjustable suspension parts!!

Got CAMBER!!??

I fitted them and did some work mounting the rad for the intercooler. Unfortunately it will only fit under the guard, but the fan will go in the space left by the old rad which is where I wanted it.

ummmm.... Old pics, its not being held on with zip ties anymore!

I've also wired up the relays for the 2 fuel pumps and finished off most of the "loose ends" as far as the wiring. Now its just the gauges/warning lights that need to be wired.

I got excited this evening and hooked up the battery to test the relays etc, and was going to give it a bit of a crank over to get some oil around it, but the batt was too dead!
All the relays seem to switch as they should, so I am pretty confident I wont blow anything up when I go to start it for real.

Expecting my highflow cat converter and brake master cylinder to turn up any day, so then hopefully I can get stuck into the exhaust and brake lines :D

very nice and i love the camber on them wheels!!
have you considered cutting out the grill for where the radiator sits?
you could probably make a bit more room and it would look heaps neat i reckon

Cheers,

I have considered cutting the grill, and I may still do it, but that grill gives a fair bit of strength to the area and I think I've already cut enough, but we'll see how it goes.
:?
It is acually quite out of the way of the wheel there.

I've been away working a lot lately :x , but there has been a little bit of work going on with the van.

Intercooler piping basically done, still have to mount the BOV:

Fuel system done (minus the surge tank which will be completed at a later date and installed)

Image

Intercooler radiator mounted and hoses run, but still waiting on a automotive parts supplier whos "life is cars too" to stop sending the wrong electric water pump before I can wire and finish that area. I also need to source a small enough fan, but my Radiator guy reckons that should be no probs. I just need the time!!
Image

Dash all but finished. Just need to bolt it in place once I know the wiring is right.

Also a bunch of other little things sorted that, although don't make good stories, all bring it a little bit closer to getting it going. 8)

Just waiting on my Road Runner dump pipe to get here and then hopefully I can start it. woo hoo!

I used a VL commodore EFI pump. What you can't see in the pics is the EFI filter after the pump. (I just poked the camera under the back of the car to take the photos :P )
Unlike a few of the other Starlet minis, I am only planning to keep the engine relativley standard (thats the plan anyway) So I didn't feel the need to go too overboard with the fuel pump.

And yes a return line is needed.
I used the standard mini 1/4" supply pipe for the return and just ran a new 5/16" supply pipe.

For the pipe join into the tank, I just drilled through the fuel level sender plate size for size with a brass fitting with a 1/4" hose tail one end and thread the other and screwed it though with a copper washer on each side to seal. I added a nut on the back and done.
Much easier/safer than welding anything in to the tank.

so not a problem with the fuel going back into the tank "underwater" so to speak? I am only asking as i am trying to figure out how to do mine. plus i have twin tanks!!

I can't imagine it being a problem. The fuel pump will supply much more fuel than the injectors can supply at 100% duty and full noise, so there will always be positive flow into the tank from the return line. Plus the fuel rail is much higher vertically than the tank.

Even if there was no pressure back to the tank the fuel will just sit in the line. It does anyway when you stop the fuel pump(s).
