Thats pretty wild!!

He was short shifting to keep traction and still the thing broke loose.

Mid-mount RWD would have helped there!

Yeah, I'm searching for GSXR engines now.

I've found a GTIR rear end in Brisbane (with tailshaft). Should be <$400 delivered.

Excellent, its all coming together now!!

That's cheap delivery to Omaha!!!

I've still got the house in Briavegas so would just get it delivered there.

Yep, I guessed as much.

If you need an alternative drop off you can always have it delivered to me and I will store it for you.

Fron the same car where the motor was front mounted. I grabbed the pic because of the gear shifter arrangement but noticed today the new tunnel he has had to make.

You could build a Buggy for $4000? I really should give you a call.......

Are you talking to me?

mine cost me $6000... but i wouldn`t be building anyone a buggy like this for that sort of money, i`d have to actually put some labour cost onto it

"""& also""" the replacement cost of all those new & 2nd hand parts like the disc assys & the trailing arms & the peddle assys & the steering & rear brakes , pipes & hoses & the seat & the Race-harnesses & the coil-over shocks & the wings & the R1 motor & the Limited-Slip-Diff & the Diff cradle & the battery & all the wiring & the dash & the fuel pump & swirl pot & the extractors & the & the & the & the etc etc etc --> all that stuff will certainly cost more than they cost me on this particular buggy

& then there is a space-frame to take into consideration, i did this one myself so there would also be a rather substantial cost to build that too

not to mention the cost of that special gear-shift :-)

IE: if i were to make these buggys to sell, then they will most certainly cost $15K-ish, probably closer $20K , depending on your "wish-list" of specs

However,,, in saying all that,,, i am currently working on a new space-frame buggy with turbo charged 4-wheel drive system, so i doubt anyone could persuade me to take time off my new buggy to build them an "old" design :-) if you wanted one of the "old" design then maybe you should offer me a big chunk of money for the one i already have???

it`s already a proven top 5 outright (often 1st & 2nd outright) just about everywhere i`ve been with it.... & Being faster than a whole pile of $100K + open-wheelers & 4x4 turbo Porsches & the like, most of which are running massive 15" slicks... , in my $6K home-built front-wheel-drive special, feels pretty bloody good i might add :-)

& it`s now got a late model injected engine fitted with an extra 30hp :-)

So it would be superb value for money at $20K--> especially when you consider that the Aussie legend race cars are $60K to buy new & about $40K 2nd hand,,,, & The Rage Buggys from England are approx $40K

so,,, sorry but i really do wish i could build them & be able to sell them for $4000, we`d obviously all have one or 2 of them if that we the case hey?

:-)

Maybe after i win the $400million lotto, then i`d be happy to build a whole pile of them & i`d just let everyone race them with me for free :-)

Yeah, when you posted it cost you$4k I was amazed. It never occured to me that labour costs were not included.

Sorry to hijack your thread JC, I'll just go crawl back into the hole in digging myself into

$4K would have been well before the nice wheels & slicks & wings & new shocks,,, & definately well before the new injected engine

but still, i never charge myself any labour costs with these stoopid race cars of mine,,,, they would be far too costly & i`d never build them if i did that :-)

I`m sure JC won`t mind (too much) of us stealing his lime light , just for a little bit :-)

Hey Matt,

Just as a comparison - how much you reckon in labour to do a Mini shell, as opposed to doing a buggy?? Not dollars wise, but man-hours wise....

Also, have you still got that black shell you were going to donate to our cause??

Cheers,
Tricky
