I love every thing you have done and think its brilliant but I have noticed one thing. In the pic's below which look like a Fuel filter it looks like one of the fuel lines is crimped on the centre & left where it enters above the front of the sub frame
Just something I noticed and think you should look at

Thanks Gaf, but I think (hope :? ) that is just a shadow / mark on the tank behind it.
I'm pretty sure the lines are ok, but I will check tonight incase I damaged it without realising.

Nope not kinked...it must have been a shadow or something.

Got a bit more done today:

Fabbed the intake pipe and mounted the airfilter. (I had to keep some of the old mini engine bay bling!) Also painted up some of the intercooler pipe.

The rad has also been finished off finally (Modified inlet/outlet pipes and fan mounting) but the radiator guy is getting it polished by a friend who owes him a favour!!

Can't wait to pick that up!! 8)

Planning to have it driveable by the end of july

Really I only need to do drive shafts and exhaust for it to drive. Whenever I get my dump pipe I will start the engine and make sure it runs ok.
There is a lot of little fiddly bits that I have to finish before rego. Plus I want to do a bit of bodywork and interior work!

good news james! you will have to record a little video :D

at least the air filter will get plenty of cold air up the front there

the radiator looks snug in there to, i like how you have it mounted, pretty neat 8)

Just be careful with that air filter James. In that location, it would be easy to get a gobfull of water into the filter and before you know it, you're pulling out the engine to repace a conrod.

That is of course if you actually drive it during the 1 month a year it actually rains in Kal

Alan, I thought of the air filter getting wet there, but I figure I'wont be driving it in the rain that much, but if & when I do I will just attach a piece of plastic to the inside of the grill to blank off the direct flow into the filter. I may still do this anyway, but I like the look of it the way it is!

Okay, I've been pretty busy with work for the last few weeks, but I have made a big step with the project.

I've had some frustration, some success, more frustration, a bit more success, some disappointment, more frustration, a fair bit of confusion, and finally, today, some success. :x :? :D

I've had the car ready to "start" for a few weeks now, but as mentioned, I've been busy. I've also had to wait for my dump pipe to be sent (which ended up not fitting) as well as my new Odyssey battery to be delivered from perth. (who would have thought that a 6 hr drive would take over a week  )

....Anyway, I had tried to start the mini with the old battery (been dead for about 8 months) jumped off my other car, but it would only turn the motor over without the plugs in. :?

So I got my new battery yesterday night and put it in and after a bit of cranking (maybe 10 - 15 secs) she fired to life!! But it was running rough and wouldn't rev. :( So I cracked it and went to bed!

This morning I had a few ideas to play with and had a good idea that a sensor was f**ked. Also for some reason my engine warning light is not working - I'm still chasing this.

So I made sure the timing was about right. - A little bit smoother idle, but still wouldn't rev.
Then I started pulling sensor plugs off until I found it. - The Throttle Position Sensor.

As soon as I unplugged it the car ran better (obviously the mixture was way out) and revved better than my ears could handle in the garage with basically no exhaust (only the standard dump pipe top 90 deg bend!)

So I need a new TPS! .... But at least it works.

I have a short vid of it:
