In Australia I think there is no 1/4 mile speed record for an Electric car, So if you can get this Mini up and running, go to a Drag strip holding a street car day you can set the Australian record for the first time! and in a Mini, how would that look in history?
For all of us who love Minis is this the way to go.......

Go for it!! I can't wait to see what time it's capable of.

You've done a great job, well done.

If you bring it back to Newie let me know, I'd love to have a look.

There are the shoots of the electric Mini that I found, just near me in Eastwood, Sydney.
This one was converted in the mid 70s I will place more photo's if this works.

Yes its a Mini gearbox with an big electric motor dropped on top. No way of seeing how it is bolted together as there is no room to see! but you can see a oil line feeding on the side of the holding plate plus maybe the end of a bypass valve?

Here's some pics of an electric Morris 1100, converted quite a while ago I'd say.

and the article
http://astrosa.com/n99to01/n0401.htm (scroll down a bit)

Found this one a while back. There were more photos where I found it but I can't find them on my computer. Shows how he used the existing gearbox (and even the block). Just sit those batteries behind the seat there, she'll be right.

Nice and safe...
