makin some noise for you tricky!

but yer mate in all seriousness, dont worry if you can't get it to the muster..... the wait for the cat will be well worth it in the end and you will end up with an awesome quality machine.
(dibs on a ride in it :P )

but this year i'll have to make myself more known and try to meet up with a few ausmini-ians rather then being JUST the camera ninja :P

Hi Simon,

Yeah, it was a bugger about the Muster, now I will have to wait till next year I guess.

The news is that The Cat is expected to go into the booth at the end of this month for its fur coat detailing - should look the goods upon its return.

Meanwhile, I have a lot of alloy stuff to trial fit in the engine bay that I havent done yet, as well as some alloy fabrication to do in the boot, where the water tanks are. Might try and get that out of the way this weekend!

Also, I still have some fibreglass work to do for the centre console, and door speaker pods etc. Should have had this done ages ago but I have been sidetracked (again!).

Other than that, its minor things like door pins, and general reassembly once its back from the booth.

Pictures at eight!!

But I do need some info brother, what is the door gap between door and A-pillar when the doors are closed (anybody)??. The reason I ask is that I have to get speaker wires, plus electric window wires and electric strike wires into the doors and this may mean some kind of check-out in the door or jamb to enable the wires to pass through and not get pinched or damaged.

Gees I'm slack!

Cheers,
Tricky

You're talking about a 35 year old mini....The gap could be anything!

Seriously, I have just fitted central locking to my car and have one of those flexi rubber protector tube things over the wires and they dont pinch. As long as you offset the holes in the door and the A pillar so the wires dont fold over each other and double the thickness when the door is closed you should be ok IMO.

Gap is easy to measure, just wedge some plasticine in there and shut the door, then you'll know how much space you have to work with.
I have the same thing to contend with. I've seen it done before and contained entirely within the door jamb so there's obviously more room in there than you'd think.

What you could do, if you find the gap is too narrow to close the door without pinching the cables: Beat a small recess into either the pillar or the door (or both) where the cables need to fold. I'm sure I've seen this on modern cars from memory.
