I have been informed that I need to comply with a noise test. For my mini gti motor, I have a hotdog and a muffler (straight through, steel wool packed type)
Will it pass or do I need to add some more mufflers/hotdogs. Or do I just stick a restrictor in the xhaust and pull it out later...?
How much do these other tests cost?
Brake, Noise, emmissions etc.

I would think that you should be OK
Do you know anyone in the music or ICE game?
They might be able to lend you a dB meter to get a reasonably accurate measurement.

AWD et al, I am running 12x5's on mine, given that that will obviously throw out the starlet speedo what is involved in recalibrating? Also I am running 2.5" straight thru (no hotdogs etc) and a straighthru muffler (Lukey) hope that gets through?

You should be OK with a straight through set-up. I once did this on a 1600 (Datto) it had a CA18ET in it and i never had an issue with it.

Suprisingly it was a very quiet car.

You have a digital speedo input? (i.e. not cable drive)

There is a digital interceptor which you can adjust to whatever speed you need.
Will look up the details & post here, as I have already thought about it - may need one myself.

If it's cable drive, most auto sparkies can change the cable drive gears to correct it.

if you go to.. castlemainerodshop.com.au they can sell you this correcting thingamagig for both electronic and cable drives.. from memory about 200 bucks.

from what I was told the gti has a cable speedo... I can get a new cable made up at castlemaine and use corrector gearset. ... from what I remember.......

The Jaycar one was the unit I was looking at (as featured on Autospeed).

But I'm not sure I will need it. I am running 186/65 Pirellis on 14" mags.
Not sure how that compares with the standard rims it came out with.

I believe the Australian standard only requires speedos to be +/-10%,
so I have a fairly wide margin to work in.

kinda sort.. do all speedos have the same ratio? I thought that they were more then likely different.

Different makes/models/spec level cars all can have different speedo drive ratios.

I posted the rolling diameter link up so that you could check how far out your speedo will be if you compare your new rims against the stock factory rims/tyres for the suzuki.

I believe you can get away with being 10% out & still pass inspection (but don't quote me on that)

but of course if the speedos are never perfect from new,
and if it was already 5% high you would now read 15% high
but if it was already 5% low you would now only read 5% high
