Post subject:  Fuel Pumps

Hi all
What type of fuel pump is every one using here? im currenty building a honda city turbo conversion and have read that alot of people are using VL Commodore pumps ,i can get a Bosch 0580 254 942 pump but is a higher performance pump.
Question is will this be allright or will it/can it over presure the system??/?

I would think that the Honda City standard fuel rail would be equiped with some variety of factory pressure regulator. So I don't think you will 'over-pressurise' the standard system.

Holden VL turbo pump is the go, nice and easy to plumb into fuel line and cost about $190 new. Will be fine for upto 300hp. Can get alittle noisy when low on fuel, but i have not had a problem with fuel pressure with just that pump.

my brothers old 200hp race car had a pair of VN commodre pumps, one for the swirl tank and one to feed the rail from the swirl tank

cheap as chips, get em anywhere, don't break too often. sam would probably go for falcon ones.

Yeah I am using a single Bosch 044 or VN EFI Fuel Pump (the same??). Gravity fed from the tank. Haven't tested yet but can't forsee too many problems. Apart from my left tank fuel, right tank return system. Suck it and see...

i just won one 106 bucks delivered
bosch 044 new vl turbo pump
I am going to try to get away with one pump.
Have a small (2L) ally tank under the back gravity fed from the main tank (s) with 1/2 inch line.

Can't find any flexible 1/2 fuel line tho any ideas?

mano went to Enzed and they had some 5/8" flexible fuel hose that did the trick. The Bosch pump has the big end (inlet) which is metric and most of the fuel hoses seem to be imperial. I can remember if the inlet is 10mm or 12mm but either way the hose they gave me was a tight fit but not impossible. Plus give good flow from the tank which is handy in a gravity fed situation. Also they told me that as it is on the suck side it don't have to be HP fuel hose...

Anyway the sky blue hose in the follow photo...

Well all i know is I am running a Rotary style Race pump thats inside my surge tank...

& It should not be able to overpump because of the regulator...

So I guess the question for you is how many horsies are you gonna run in the end..
