Well have managed to get the taillights and brakelights at the back working. Can seem to get any power from the indicator binnacle to the wipers or the headlights. So I accepting defeat and handing it to an electrician. She runs fine so I figure I did the majority.

I case your wondering I checked all the fuses (fine both cabin and engine bay). I even got one headlight to light up using alligator clips from the power side of the plug and earthed to the engine bay then it went out never to come on again?

I have her booked for electrical work next week then off to the dyno... 8)

matt i was the same with the wipers, just couldnt get the toyota switch to work with the mini wiper motor, so i just made a seperate switch up on the dash for the wipers.

With the lights there are 3 wires, all red i think with different colour traces, i still havnt got mine 100% as i have no high beam, but least i have lights :D

good choice when the safety of yourself or others is an issue then let the proffesionals do there bit
i have two mates that are auto sparkies so im not touching any wiring (im limited to stereo's and other add-on acc's)
Same goes with the brakes

hope it all goes well

Yeah the brakes work basically it is a professional bleed and stuff but I am also gunna get them to do a more professional job on the front brake pipes from the master cylinder as while they work they look a bit like dogs breakfast. Plus as you say peace of mind.

As for the electrics thanks for the heads up Brad yeah. Everything else went like clockwork but the indicators, headlight etc were a nightmare so I think switches on the dash for lights, wipers etc will be the way to go. Yeah retro switches.

Yeah I am still pretty proud to have got the thing going so I've done my bit...

Cheers

PS. Booked Dyno for early in the week after next so I'll make sure I get a power output figure. Also going to confirm the no cat converter status as I am getting all kinds of grief from people on AU Starlet about not having a cat...

Hey Matt,

I think you should give yourself a big pat on the back (quickly followed by shouting yourself a cold one!)

You have done extrordinarily well with the conversion and you have a right to feel proud (I mean I feel proud just knowing you!)

Dont forget that you and Brad are thre pioneers of this whole DIY engine conversion gig (yes: you have a lot to answer for). So you did some ground breaking stuff.

Anyway congrats, and let the autro spark weave his magic.

Cheers,
Andrew

Thanks Andy, yeah I am pretty chuffed and as I think I've said a few million times I was just so impressed that it all started first go. I guess we can settle whether I was the next to start after Brad. Did anyone have there halfcut before july 2004. Not that it matters I'm not one of these mine came before yours as I think Bara will probably pip me at the post anyway... :D

i started my na 4efe in late 03 but sold it last year fitted in a rolling shell (needed funds for a house) so its out there somewhere, I did intend to run the turbo motor but not knowing if it would even fit i chose the less expensive NA motor to begin with. This was an on and off project while a built my ta22 celica (also sold 4 house)

Thanks Mick yeah its been a hard road I am pretty surprised i persevered myself :). Got the brakes done today nice hard pedal. I am doing the brake switch tonight and then its off to the auto electrician on Monday! Then wheel alignment and then dyno next Monday! The guy out at Jake's Performance seemed pretty confident of getting it running sweet so we will see.
