Couple of questions guys.

I am currently putting my G13B into my jig to at the moment and wondering how everyone got the engine in exactly the right place to make up the mounts.

Does the engine need to be a perfectly aligned or will a bit offline( say 1mm) be ok. I suppose you have a bit of play in the joints.

Is the distance between the engine and the wheels critical??

And for those who have gone the G13B route, have you kept the extra bearing or just gone straight from the engine to wheel?

hey mate good choice in engine you have there :wink:

by distance between engine and wheels are you talking about driveshaft lengths or something else
if driveshaft lengths then they dont need to be exactly even apparently though the closer the better as regards torque steer issues which :wink: really cant be avoided anyways

Yeah i meant the length of the driveshafts. :oops:

I suppose that means i need to keep that extra bearing and measure the driveshaft length from there ??

I would love to hear from anyone doing the G13B conversion around the western suburbs and the geelong area (Victoria) . It would be good to check one out and share some ideas.

Definately keep the Suzuki stubby shaft with the extra bearing. This will give you close to equal length drive shafts and less torque steer.
Con Torisi made his shafts exactly equal length but that pushed the timing belt cover very close to the driver's side bonnet closing edge on the guard. Most others I've seen have a bigger gap.

I started with the gearbox first< cut away until it was roughly in the right spot then packed up the gearbox to the right spot with bits of wood so that when you looked through the driveshaft holes on the subframe the gearbox drive shaft was cental.

I then used a large set square between the face of the bell housing and the front of the subframe to get it square

at this stage you can also pivot the box to get the right angle forward so that the manifold dosnt hit the firewall

I then fabricated the gearbox mount added gussets to re-strenghten where i had cut away for the gearbox

Just thought today that it might be wise to get the control arms and brakes worked out first and then i have the exact position the engine needs to be in?? I dont know why i didnt think of that before.
