Been thinking about what the best engine will be for the mini that we will be getting soon, and after looking at the costs of A series parts thinking about costing up a Vtec instead.
The mini will be our only car and having had tuned A series engines before I quite like the idea of having lots of easy power.
So has anyone done this swap before?
Like lots of ideas it may not happen but id like to find ot just how possible it is.
Oh and I dont want a turbo engine, hence the Vtec idea.

If you visually scan thru this section you'll find a couple of guys in NZ doing it, using subframes out of the US. The issues with size, etc. will be the same as you would experience here, apart from engineers......

Or try the Search feature!

Look at 2 vtec converstions getting done at wollongong today. One racing and one ready to be bolted in. If your interested I could pass onthe number of the people that are
doing these conversions.
Cheers.

I've noticed that VTEC conversions generally use coilovers etc. Is this because the motor/box is so friggin' big the Mini suspension doesn't fit, or some other reason? :?

No argument there. But it does the job. knocked 3 sec of the class time at the Huntlry Hill climb and apparently the VTEC wasn't even working.

Seems a few people are interested in the vtec conversion lately.. I remember there being issues with setting up the steering for right hand drive cars with most of the subframes kits available.. Anyone know if this issue has been solved? Also the b16a can be done without extensions in a roundnose can't it?
