Been looking at putting a gti motor in a 71 moke
been quoted about $4000 grand drive
away dose anyone know the cost of a turbo starlet convertion
Any help would be great.

Well. I'll tell you a secret. Sell your mini motor/box/discs/subframe for $1750. +$1750 Buy a whole gti for $1400. -$1400 Drive it home from the Gold Coast (unregistered, of course). Sell the seats for $300. +$300 The rolling shell for $600. +$600 The motor/box/loom along with some other goodies for $1500. +$1500 Buy a starlet front cut for $1400 and metro discs for $300. -$1700 Subframe to date $350. -$350 How much has it the starlet conversion to date cost you? $700 in credit did I hear you say? Buy well, sell well. |

yer just better at wheeling and dealing than me JC

Is it Engineered? I assume it includes fueling and driveshafts (unless they've got a downhill driv-e-way, no more to pay) |

Yeah, I would also like to know where you got your quote and what it included. I'm thinking of getting a mini for my daily-driver and a mildly tuned-up G13B would seem to be a decent option for a mini that has to be sensible daily transport. Let us know who gave you that quote and what it included. |

I've got to say, I am with JC on this one, you would be suprised what you can acheive if you set your mind to it. I have bought, stripped, cleaned and fixed and the re-sold (for fair prices, some people tend to over price parts) and this lead to my budget being very minimal. Dan |

Helps if you have trade behind you ,myself being a locksmith have done that many favours for everyone ,i got my motor for nothing and mechanicals at cheap rates And no I didnt steal the motor," im a good locksmith"
my sirion has only cost around $700 so far including cooper S brakes but if everyone else did the work it would be alot more 13 second mini ,baracade, Minstar would probably have a good idea of cost |

I assume it includes fueling and driveshafts (unless they've got a downhill driv-e-way, no more to pay) they quoted $3000 if I give them a front cut gti.they have just finished a conversion in a mini which they have rebuilt motor from top to bottom apparently the owner is going to race it. this conversion cost $7500 drive out with a $3000 dollar motor build I'll be
getting a final quote next week with all items listed. Dose it sound to cheap

Jet7, Careful with the Moke. The engine bay is taller but not a long (front to back) as a round nose mini. The firewall is more vertical so there is less room to re-locate the brake and clutch master cylinders and the grille is directly above the front of the subframe. With all of these conversions the guys have had to move the front subframe member forward to fit the exhaust. This could be an issue for a Moke. I find that just fitting an oil cooler between the grille and the engine is a squeese. Of course lengthening the front of a Moke to fit the engine would be far easier than a real mini but it may blow the budget out more than you have been quoted. M |

M Hi Mokesta, do you have a moke with a different motor in it if so what is it, who done the work and how much did it cost.
