seems like everyone is only doing conversions for big hp not reliable efi motors, thought id do a poll to see if its true :)

Can we say both?

Reliabilitry would be the number one reason I would attempt it. But if you are going to all that trouble, why not have more power as well? :)

Factory turbo motors are reliable, until you start messing with serious internal mods.
Brad's 4EFTE Clubby has only really had a clutch, an oil change and a set of plugs since it went on the road a couple of years ago.
And it's churning 170HP thru the front treads. 8)

Oh you mean A series? Hmmm... my old N/A 1310 was pretty reliable for a 110HP+ (at crank) road motor. I thrashed it hard for 45,000 miles before it threw in the towel (part seized #4 piston).
I hope my new 1360 with 120HP+ will prove as good.

i would want both, but if had to choose between the two, i would have to say reliabilty...

but performance is also very tasty... :D

The answer is both for me. I always wanted to do a swap but figured I wouldn't get to it for a couple more years. But the carb was a little worn and acting up and my girlfriend drove it one day and it gave her some trouble. So I decided that instead of spending a couple hundred bones on a carb, I could spend about $1000 and have fuel injection, triple the power and an extra gear, amoung other things. So it was initiated by reliability but backed up with power.

both for me too...although reliability is 2nd place to hp...

I actually started down the reliability route, or not so much realiability as Toyota engines are pretty much bullet proof, but general ease of driving, 5 speed gb, quieter engine, and having just a bit more power making the thing more enjoyable to drive.

One registered (hopefully friday) I will probably drive around in it for a while and save up and put on the ubiquitous T25. Anything over 150 atw will be fine with me.

By the way on the subject of HP a mate of mine in Sud Afrika, who borrowed the subframe design, finally got his on dyno and it put out 380atw but he bent the subframe so he had to strengthen it up. I will get him to send me a copy of the dyno sheet. I think this was with NOS but not sure I will post some pics when I get a chance...

Cheers
