Post subject:  4efte fuel pump question

what are you guys using for a fuel pump? i dont want to go out and by a pump with too high or low a pressure. do you know what pressure the original motor used? Would i be better off using a duel pump setup with swirlpot? do you need a pressure regulator if you get a pump with the right pressure? any thoughts?

the pressure at idle on most efi cars is 40-60 psi depending on model. most high pressure pumps should be able to handle it. the pressure aint a issue as the fuel reg in the fuel rail governs that. depends on what you prefer. can use a low than a high pressure pump, or a high pressure in a intank situation all left up to you

Standard they have a fuel regulator built in to the fuel rail OK for standard boost and slight increases. But when you start and get serious you can either replace the standard reg with an adjustible one like a sard or fit a sard one after the standard reg. so when you increase the boost fuel pressure is higher than standard to give more fuel for the higher boost.
In my conversion I have made a surge tank welded in the bottom of the standard fuel tank and used a VL high pressure pump saves having two pumps and external surge tank.
