Looks familiar. I suggest cutting ths top bar out of you front panel and making it removable, this will assist with removing and installing the motor.

Good luck

Dan, did you cut that top bar out so that you could remove the motor through the top? Mine won't be coming out through the top so won't need to cut it off. The exhaust manifold is prolly 10-15mm from it so should be ok to have the turbo in the factory position. Will have to shave the lower panel a little to ensure the turbo fits.

Thanks Tricky and Tony very much appreciated. The first born is on its way.

Its a shame really that all the time put into it is almost invisible. There is some incredibly creative solutions to problems in them thar parts. Reflects Tricky's commitment to quality and the time spent on it.

There's three and a half days of work in that job. So we rolled it into the shed saturday morning. Rolled it out 2pm Tuesday. There was three of us and the third person was really only required when we lifted the car and to fetch lunch (and to change my own brakes line, hi los and shocks.)

Are you using the stock intake manifold? If so yu will have to take it off each time you drop the motor out.

I can also drop the motor and subframe pending removal o fintake manifold, but i find lifting the mini by my self just a tad heavy.

Yep stock intake manifold. Until the motor is fitted for the last time, the mani will be held on with two bolts. Realistically, when the motor goes in for the final time, I have no intention of taking it out.

We figured that it wasn't going to be an option to take it out through the top (apparenlty) . In the event i need to take the motor out it won't be too big a task to lift the car off the ground. I've got a jack, crane and very sturdy car stands.

I'll shoot you a pic when i do some hacking for the turbo.

Stirling effort chaps, looks like you had a productive few days. I'd loved to have come and lend a hand but had a list of honey-do's as long as my arm

Definitely worth the trip Damo. Realisitically, its a fairly siginificant milestone for both Tony and myself to have motors in the car. I was bouncing off the walls and still am. It just looks like its meant to be there.
