Hi Folks

Am new here, also placed a similar post in the general forum

I am migrating from UK and want to import my work in progress which is a 20v 4age into a 1969 Austin Cooper.

I don't think I'll have a problem with the importing but was after info on the registration/licensing before I can use it on the road.

My biggest concerns are :-

Homemade subframe - strong but not engineer approved
Increased track - the gearbox is pretty wide so the track had to increase about 2"
Extra wide arches - about 5" to cover the tyres
7 x 13 wheels

Anything else I should be concerned about?

ANy info would be great!

Cheers
Rich

Just a simple thing , what's the capacity of the motor you're using and is it turbo'd ? We have some pretty strict rules in regards to capacity in relation to car size/weight .

I reckon you'd be right getting it engineered and regoed with NA 4age..

A turbocharge 20v in a mini would be rediculous though! You'd kill all of the starlet conversions.. Did you guys get the 4agzes in the UK?

Capacity is 1587cc. It is normally aspirated.

Yeah, have seen the turbo kit for a 20v 4age, v.impressive, but I've only just managed to get the engine/box in let alone a turbo or supercharger!!

Of course the best option is to twin charge but I definately don't have room for both!

Might be worth a try eventually though!!!!!!!!!!!

We never got the 4agze but there are a few companies that import it now for use in toyotas and kit cars.

I'm pretty sure toyota built mk1 mr2's that came with a supercharged 4agze. You can get them in uk but rare and pricey.

I have a none supercharged mr2, i hope to do something with it, not sure yet though.

Still got swiftmini to finish first.

cheers

Under the NCOP the maximum size motors that can be fitted to a mini are:
N/A 2.0L
Forced induction 1.3L

Keep working on that SwiftMini (I have a vested interest)

mate theres a shite load of 4agze's out there. just gotta look. we did get them in later model MR2's. but the were imported in low numbers. our most common was the MR2 GT turbo.
If you've got a 20V 4A you should have no dramas making decent HP even as N/A. I know few cars crusing round perth with 200hp+ at the wheels.
I also have a mate with a turbo 20V motor producing 200rwkw, getting a freshen up to drop back into a sprinter.
You wont get it licenced as a charged motor, but psycho N/A is fine.
