to all those who have starlets or swifts actually on the road, what's your diff ratio, and whats your RPM when cruising in 4th and 5th gear at 100kph

curious about what my honda will cruise at with it's 4.6ish final drive, given the cooper is 3.44 and 4000rpm at 100k's

My 4EFTE conversion with a 4age20v gearbox has a 4.3 final drive and .815 fifth gear ratio and at 110 kph does about 4050rpm
Starlet GT has a better final drive of 3.7 and same fifth ratio ,I am looking at fitting one of these as it is too low as is.

thanks Ben - that's what I wanted to know. My final drive is 4.5, but my 5th gear is a bit taller, so it works out much the same - I'll see how I go 'eh

noise is the main issue - I want to keep it a bit quiet so I can take the family places without them needing earplugs

this might help you with the starlet gear ratio's it has a listing for all TRD gear sets sold for their close ratio boxes

http://trdparts.jp/english/list_race-mis_ep.html

if you run 13's the difference in wheel size is negligable between the starlet and the mini

I think it works out that the mini's 5-10% slower in speed vs revs

Note the graphs are on a 3.722 final I think. 4.7 available through trd but i'm sure their are others.

apparently you can use any toyota e series motor gearbox on the 4EFTE i.e. the 4age motor has a slightly lower ratio when bolted up as they rev higher, their's lots of options apparently, guys with starlets on high boost are having problems with traction in nearly all gears on short ratio boxes though, a high gear keeps the boost away when you don't need it :D :D

thanks JC :)

I did a spreadsheet like yours last night for the Honda, we're doing 237kph on 10" wheels at 9000rpm

the honda 5th is basically equivalent to a mini 4th :?

and Emmeline, yep, the whole family at once :D
