Anybody done or seen a twin turbo to twin su setup for a 1275?

How bout you try it?

I think no one has seen one setup like that for a good reason. Seen how fidly a single turbo with single SU is to setup?

Its just a hyperthetical exercise. I know the packing of a mini would make it near impossible - but never say never

However I was more interested in understanding the possibility of spiltting the load between two small blowers to reduce lag and increase boost. What do you think?

I only want to know to improve my understanding.

With three exhaust ports it would be very had to do...... There would be no benefit to fitting two SU's as you could fit one big mother that would provide enough fuel and butterfly area.

If you were so include to flogging dead horses you might consider a supercharger for low end and a turbs for high end.

In short it's achievable but you're unlikely to achieve the same results as Simon's twin blowers.

You sure that is a blower installation, looks like a pair of twin suckers to me

What lag - there is no lag with a supercharger, thats why you fit them!!

I was suggesting two small turbochargers - therefore lag is relevant. i wouldnt contenmplate twin supers as the load for two would reduce the induction benefit.

and there is lag on a supercharger it is just far less than a turbo. It still has to reach pressure before the induction benefit is noticed, this coupled with the reduced compression ratio is can be felt in some large capacity supercharger installations.

With the twin blower idea you could always have a small and a large turbo. The small turbo could come on first (because its small the lag would be less) and then at a particular point the larger turbo could come on for higher boost - thus not feeling any lag from the large turbo.

maybe.......

Sequential turbos are not new, but how the hell would you fit it all under a mini bonnet?

Just look under the hood of a Liberty B4 BiTurbo or better still, a twin turbo Supra. In the case of the Supra they work really well, but on a mini it's just too much extra piping to fit & extra mass for little benefit.

I recken it would if you rotated the carbs through 90 degrees and mounted them high - with a power bulge -
