Check out http://www.minicooper.org.uk/ then click on SwiftMini on the left hand side.

Like they used to do with BDA's they are mating the Swift Motor to the Mini Box. Different!

I've often wondered why we don't do something like this :? Dose it matter that the engine is facing the wrong way or in that config dose it spin the same as a mini? Good on em, I want one :D

Facing that way it'll spin the same as the A Series.

yer but then you need a hole new sub frame, engineer cert etc etc. Why spend 8k (roughly) on an engine conversion or on building an A-series engin (may not be as reliable or as cheep parts) to do what a 1.3 suzi lump can do for 1/2 the price? I like working the gearing in a mini box and with that power behind it... :D :P 8)

The Mini gearbox loses a lot of power through the drop gears from the crank. A directly driven gear box is much more efficient.

Warwick Agustin races a Mini with a Toyoya 4AGE chain driven to a Mini box. 8)
The thing has been running for years and regularly gives the VTEC Minis a hard time..

Warewick has put a extra oil filter in his toymini om the pick up side as well as the normal toyota one. It has run for 12 or 13 years and was only frreshened this year after a blown headgasket :D

why don't people chain drive mini gearboxes from mini block?

other than having to turn the engine around.. ;)

Turn the engine around? :?

You'd just need an old positive earth starter motor & run the engine backwards
