So the quest has begun :P

Pulled the engine and subframe out this afternoon with the lovely help of Sam W. Thanks bro! :) Altho we seemed to chat more than do actual work! ROLF!

Next step is the stripping of the engine bay, all wiring, hoses, steering rack, master cylinders etc, must be gone. Completely getting a clean back to bare metal for some new shiny paint :P

ok so a little late on reply.. but I've been run off my feet with jobs lately and not much time to do too much to the van. Started stripping the bay of bits, but have had to turn focus to cleaning out the shed to make room for it to come inside...

One a side note, the Engine is up on the work bench with the subframe and engine ready for cleaning, sand blasting, and then painting :P

I'm hoping in the next few days or so I might get it stripped, the front windscreen out, and the old dash and its components out for the way of my custom one that will go in.

Pics soon to come.

Hopefully over the weekend I get time to get stuck right into it :P

Hi Lockie,
Is removal of the windscreen necessary for removing the top dashpad?

I'm told it's not. But it makes it a Hell of a lot easier I have found. I struggled to get my last dash pad out past the huge rubber bulge. I wanted to take the windscreen out for other reasons, etc, so was killing 2 birds at once in other words :)

Thanks,

I'm currently trying to work out a triage of tasks on my Clubman and I guess the glass can come out all at once for new rubbers and interior bits (dash pad and hood lining need replacing) so that helps to know so I can leave the dashpad till later rather than struggle early on only to remove the windscreen later anyway.

no worries mate.

if it was me, I would be replacing the dash pad while windscreen is out if you can..., it really is a pain with the windscreen in. I'm not one with patience though  But yes it can be done when the glass is in if need be.

ok so finally got stuck into it this morning before I had to head of to work.

The engine bay is now bare, and all bits removed and wiring + dash, air conditioning gear and instruments gone to make way for the sirion bits. :P

Arh the dismantling bit is always so easy... me not looking forward to the new wiring loom... garhhh

Went to supercrap today, and got some degresser and paint stripper to get the engine bay back to bare metal as the next step.

Taken all the wheels off as well and up nice and high on car stands to work on, and also gave the chrome wheels a good polish with some purple polish :P came up bling bling :)

I'm going down later tonight with a helping hand from a mate to take the front doors off to replace the front hinges, and also to get a hand to remove the engine from the subframe to get it cleaned back up again and then sent off to MrFail on here to paint

Running wayyyy behind schedule but that's the way it goes I guess... got distracted on some other things lately as some as you may see on my fb

Here is some progress pics..

But dam that car got cleaned out quickly and it in in decent condition to boot, looking good.
