Good evening fellow Mini & Moke lovers, distinguished members and guests, emus, cats & dogs!! I've spent the last 4 days with my head buried in the computer doing the rounds of this magnificent forum site. It appears I've found my piece of heaven and now wish to sip from the cup of knowledge. These are the facts: 1. We (family) own a gal-bodied moke 2. The 1275's very tired 3. there's no-one in Darwin interested in a rebuild 4. Eastern/Southern states would love to do it for a tad under 10K, with freight and bits & pieces thrown in. 5 I've always wanted to shoe horn a late model Japanese in a mini or moke. So I ask the pletherer of mini/moke oricles who have undertaken this exercise to enlighten me on the ins and outs of fitting the starlet motor or the honda integra free spinner. Our forum matters would be as follows: 1. What would be the better engine choice starlet turbo or the honda integra motor 2. Front subframe modifications - I know Pubudu can make a subframe and the orange honda one is a work of art also cost to have one built. 3. Drive shafts? are they doner engine to factory mini cv's or is the late model half cut the way to go using brakes, cvs, shafts etc..... 4. Being Darwin the engineers up here aren't too interested in small jobs unless you're a multi million dollar mining or pearling company. I know I race Commodore Cup up here and heaven forgive it if you need something fabricated. So a bit about my self. I'm a restauranteur who owns a Cooper SII, my 8yr old daughter owns the moke and she loves it to death, and I've got 2-3 (well actually about 10 (the wife has edited this transcript)) cars of which are VC Brock Commodore, 87 Highline Range Rover with a 195Kw HSV 5lt in it (that was another - no it can't be done job - boy it goes) 67 split w/screen combi and a clubsprint capri (wife's) la-la-la. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated Cheers - The Victerian (I'm expat Melbournian) P.S. I blame the Motorkana I did on Saturday for this. What Fun!!! - Poor Magna ![]() |

Post subject: | im wiered |
to good. im hopeing to here from the truely knowledgable today. guy guys are so advanced your an hour'n'half ahead of us. wireing down so much more to go.did you use the starlet CV's and front brake sections or doner to factory? dont you hate it when your all excited and nothings fast enough in coming forward. ive got an Excige and a 80's MR2 to beat, i race cars and ive had a boke harase me for 2yrs to try motorkana.........so i went last saturday, loved it. the Magna didnt, so i needed a new weapon of choice SHAZAM*%#@BANG.......mokeasourus is born, well more like a wheezee feetus but id like to be one of the first few to do a retro fit on a moke in the NT. oh and by the by,we dont need engineers certification in the first instant. if they think its a bodgy job then they'll refure you to an engineer who are so busy its a case of do this'n'that and pop back in heres your paper work. dont cock that eyebrow, its true . who did the suzuki GTI moke, im asuming it was a suzuki........Mokeazuki sounds like japanise horror movie, i intend to document every step of the mokkeasorus program for the future needs of mankind. thanks again. the victerian ![]() ![]() |

I was the one that brought GTI moke, leaving tomorrow from Moe to pick it up. I hope it is a good project, Moke and clubman engine bays are about the same size but where it gets tricky is that the headlights on a moke are inside the inner guard line, so they will need to be spaced out or extend the front, (I did want to do a Starlet conversion as I think the motor is more vertical and provide more light clearance) the other problem is with the alternator reversed and under the drivers guard it may clash with the 13" moke wheels where as that might not ba a prob with 10" mini rims. I guess these issues will become clear when I see it in the flesh for the first time, hopefully on sunday. might have plenty of Questions for Tricky then cheers Andrew |
