Post subject:  Honda V Toyota V Suzuki

Hi all,
As you may know i'm starting a retro fit on my daylly driver moke.
Shes done blenty of k's and is getting tiered.
I'd like some input into the better of the three motors outlined and the motor of choice and for's & against's.

1 Honda VTEC. (my choice)

2 Toyota 4EFTE.

3 Suzuki G13-B

Iv'e had some great results from this forum and the men of great knowledge have given me exceptional input and confudence to takle this project.

I must admit im out of my depth here only because i'm not in touch with my regular engineer and work shop, with the added luxury of haveing most things within an hr of were your at...the joys of moving to Darwin

Any way lets see what we recon.

Thanks Tricky........what are we to build?

Go the 4EFTE or VTEC, the Suzy engine's getting too old now and you'll be pressed to find a good one.

Have you got enough width in the engine bay of a Moke for a VTEC?

Strange, given they were sold locally until 1997. I agree that a 4EFTE or VTEC is a better choice, not because of availability (or age for that mattter). I reckon I could find you 5 before the day is it.

Hi having just finished a vtec I would say 4efte looks like a lot less work cheaper half cut , lots of help and advice, and maybe someone will make and sell you a subframe and whatever price they charge it will be good, engineering allready passed, tried and tested, what more could you want. mini regards peter.

Post subject:  its all good advice

the Honda's only $300-$400 extra as a half cut.
As tricky said it's nice to do somthing different, and you get those extra cc's as aposed to the turbo, plus they dont mind a rev.

PD's done his mini and a factory look was achived, although there's a tad less room in the front of a moke im sure it's achevable.

im just interested in apinions on the pro's'n'con's of each motor comparison....theres a thought, get 1 of each and put them through there paces.

now that would give us somthing to talkabout.
as alot of us have done i'm going to get as much info as possible use the best people and enjoy some trouble free motoring and beat son 100K plus cars in our local motorkana scene
